POLE DANCING!
Yup, that’s right: in her new video, “Rabiosa,” The Girlfriend With One of the Hottest Bodies in Hollywood pole dances.
How do we feel about a brunette, short-haired Shakira? And the video, aside from the obviously-fabulous pole dancing, are we digging it? Is it too much like something from the late nineties, or is this just Shakira’s niche? Me, I think the video was OK. It was fun. It was Shakira, for crying out loud, and she’s never really been known for her moving, thought-provoking videos, unless you count her moves, which provoke some really inappropriate thoughts. Then, I guess, the lady’s got it in the bag.

Right. Okay. She looks amazing. But she isn’t exactly pole dancing, is she? She’s just doing her Shakira bellydancing, wahoo-boys-I’m-so-flexible-thing, and a pole happens to be there. But man, yeah, she can rock the wig or the usual mane of blonde hair. Shakira: wanna hate her, gotta love her.

And seriously, isn’t Shakira always “the nineties”? Isn’t that a part of her charm? haha, I totally feel Like AC above; should hate her but gotta love her.
As a Latin woman living in Mexico I got to hear her music in Spanish when it was just heavenly great…
This is an example of what happens when you sell your soul to get money, since she started singing in English she became this pole-dancing, party-song singer that’s just too different for me to love.

Cacahuita is totally right, I am Spanish and Shakira, back when she only sang in Spanish, was the Latin Alanis Morrisette, only her songs were a thousand times better. Seriously, I can’t stress how amazing her music used to be, such an example for all women who wanted to go into music without being a bimbo. She is an accomplished lyricist and guitarist, I don’t understand why she had to sell out like that and become everything she was not.
