Who knew that Kara had such a tough past, jeez. The one-time American Idol judge and award-winning songwriter recently penned her memoirs, titled A Helluva High Note, and has released some excerpts to E! Online, one of which included an incident that occurred between a friend of the family and her when she was only ten or eleven years old:
“On one particular day, he took me into the back shed of his house and put his hands all over my breasts and vagina,” she writes. “I remember freezing and not knowing what to do.”
Then, later in life, when it seemed she’d mostly gotten past the worst of her sexual abuse scars, she was date raped by a well-known music producer:
“[Later a] ‘fairly known producer’ date-raped her after having what she thought was a friendly dinner. ‘[W]ithin a few hours, he was on top of me, pumping, sweating, and speaking to me in Spanish, not a word of which I could understand.’ She repeatedly told him to stop, but didn’t try to fight him because she was too scared he’d become violent. She never told anyone about the horrific incident because she feared he would ruin her career.”
And it didn’t even stop there; a few years later, she states she was sexually harassed by an international superstar, whom instead of using her for her award-winning songwriting skills, entertained her for a weekend which was filled with even more sexual deviance, shrouded by the guise of ‘work’:
” … ‘The trip’s activities consisted of watching Russian porn, scavenging around the kitchen for food [and] leering at two strippers…as they performed sex acts in the living room. … I wasn’t gonna let this bastard deter me from doing the job [however].’ She eventually walked away after he chased her around the basement of his suburban home and forced her hand on his privates.”
Wow, guys. This is some serious stuff. Rape allegations against a well-known music producer, harassment by a performer … shit’s apparently crazy in this business, and even in spite of the horrific things that DioGuardi claims happened, I’m still totally trying to figure out who the producer is. The incident reportedly occurred around 2000, and the producer was speaking to her in Spanish. That doesn’t necessarily make him Spanish, but it could narrow things down, I guess. One way or the other, I agree with Kara – I don’t think I’d be making any bones about discussing these things, because anyone who would be awful enough to take a sexual advantage over another person should be, like, taken out back and shot.
Certainly not shot…. At least, not at first. Anyone taking sexual advantage ought to feel at least a little bit of pain. Dry shaving then doused with alcohol comes to mind. Balls scoured with steel wool then peel habaneros & squeeze the juice on his cajones. Ball peen his joints one section at a time…. List is endless!!
I rather like the way you think!
Backatcha!!
By Spanish do you mean from Spain? How many fairly-known producers are from Spain? Or do you mean from a Spanish-speaking country, probably in South America? Can we NOT get the two mixed up? Americans speak in English but are not English, someone from Mexico or Argentina speaks Spanish but is not Spanish. Javier Bardem and Benicio del Toro both speak Spanish but they are not both Spanish.
mireee, by saying spanish speaking, it is clear that the writer of this piece meant just THAT… spanish speaking. country of origin does not matter. it was a way to narrow the “search” down. if this person is well known and speaks spanish. I would take that as being in the business in America, someone who speaks spanish as a first language, so that narrows it down too. while ethno-centrically speaking you are of course correct.i am sure in Hollywood and someone who Dioguardi has worked with, also narrows it down. so anyone in this readership, with insight could probably figure it out, whether or not they are “latino” or from spain. lets not be picky here.
I’m so sick of hearing about all these celebrities whine about being raped and molested when they were younger! I mean who f’n cares? They’re all rich successful people now, what good is it telling the whole world aside from asking for a pity party! We all know that the best revenge is being successful, which they all clearly are now. They should have done something about it when it happened, instead of whining about it 20 years later! Dont gwt me wrong, I’m against the abuse of anybody but stop f’n whining about it 20 years later so you can get more attention! Get the F over it already and move on!
Celebs will say anything to get ink, it’s probably
All bullshit.
I wouldn’t say its bullshit, but it does seem like an awful lot of female celebs are coming out and telling the world about their tragic childhoods! I’m all for Chaz’s comment/ideas of handling loosers who do this to helpless girls, i don’t think bringing up such a private & personal tragedy 20 years later does any good but an attempt at more plublicity. After all, they always say ANY plublicity is good plublicity. Otherwise all the women that have sex tapes (that were supposed to be private ) out would have had a negative impact on their careers….which btw, never happened to any of them. If anything, these sex tapes boosted their careers. (Not that you can compare the two, just trying to make a point) If they felt so strongly about people knowing about their rape, molestation or abuse of any type, they should have done something about it AT THE TIME it happened. Then maybe the looser that did this to them would still be behind bars.
