OK, well, no, she’s not a “big, fat” hypocrite, but she’s a hypocrite, nevertheless.
Hewitt speaks exclusively to People magazine and decries the media machine that perpetuates the idea that “thin is in.” Kind of. Hewitt states that a woman should “love” the way she “looks,” because it’s all she’s got — in a manner of speaking:
“I just really worked on my mental part for a couple of weeks, got myself in a really good mindset,” she says, adding that she was “bummed out” and “had to get over the embarrassment of the photos.
The aforementioned photos were the notorious photos that were taken of the star a few years back when she was a bit heavier than she is now.
I really want to like this girl. Honestly, I really, really do. But her constant waffling about what’s “in” and what’s not really puts me off, not to mention the fact that she constantly spouts advice on topics that she kind of has no idea about whatsoever. When she claimed a few years ago that she didn’t care what the media thought of her then-rounder figure, I really respected her. She allowed herself to be photographed in a shape that Hollywood considers “fat” and “undesirable,” and she claimed not to care what the public thought, as long as she was happy about herself. I liked that, and it was because she had gone from a skinny-mini Hollywood starlet to a more normalized version of a person who’s not eighty pounds soaking wet, and it was refreshing.
Hewitt also states that while she’s lost a bunch of weight (but doesn’t specify how much), she’s still a “work in progress,” and feels that a few months from now, she’ll be where she wants to be:
“I think I’m a work in progress,” she admits. “[But] I feel it’s so much better than [it was] a year-and-a-half ago, and I feel like in another eight months, it’s going to be so much better than it is today.”
Yeah, either that, or you’re going to join the ranks of Kate Moss and all of the other thinspired Hollywood starlets that don’t have an inch to pinch, and jutting bones that stick out at all odd angles.
Uh-huh. I’m confused at her sudden change of heart on the topic of bodily acceptance. Speaking out now and saying that she was, indeed, embarrassed by the release of those photos? I feel misled. And I’m definitely kind of bummed.
Yeah, what does she need another 8 months or so to do? Get her hip bones and shoulder blades filed down so she doesn't stab anyone? She's also a self-proclaimed role model, which makes her more of an asshole. It's really too bad that she had to cave to the “I'm healthier now by being excessively skinny” attitude but she will need something to keep her relevant as her show has been canceled.
Okay, I generally have a rule about celebrities who use three names being assholes (There are exceptions, of course, but think about it), and I've never been a fan of JLH (I think she acts with her tits). But, I'm tempted to give her a free pass on this one. I appreciate that she wants be a good role model but I think it's like Jessica Simpson in the “Mom Jeans”. Being a female celebrity comes with so much pressure about your looks, wouldn't she be lying if she said it never got to her? Maybe she's trying to be a good role model, and part of that is being honest about ALL of her feelings on the matter. We women are complicated creatures- can't she feel both pissed at the double standard and disappointed she wasn't at the top of her game and really mean it?
gee maybe she lost weight because the entire world made fun of her. how crazy.
Anh….go feck yourselves.
