Hey y’all. I know everyone’s waiting for me to weigh in on this Kanye nonsense from last night. I’ll tell ya what: I heard the news (I wasn’t watching the show live), and I was fucking pissed. Taylor Swift is the little sister I adopted without her permission, and NOBODY gets to fuck with her like that. I think she handled herself perfectly, both during and after the incident, and I think Kanye West is a fucking alcoholic who should know by now that drinking prior to live, televised awards shows never results in him conducting himself appropriately. I feel sad for him; I’m sure his embarrassment today is surpassed only by his hangover. But just as I was getting all worked up about that, scouring the web for more information, I saw the news that they found the body of that missing Yale grad student, and suddenly a stupid Kanye West rant didn’t seem so important. My heart just breaks for the family and friends of that girl. It’s so unspeakably tragic.
But I suppose there was just anger in the air this weekend, as Serena Williams completely lost her shit on the tennis court at the US Open on Saturday night. The lineswoman calls a foot fault on Serena during her second serve, and Serena then appears to threaten to do something involving the tennis ball and the lineswoman’s orifices. For whatever reason, I’m loving this clip. I mean, THIS is the kind of forum where you fight back against decisions — far more appropriate than frightening poor Taylor Swift at the VMAs. And then the lineswoman goes and tattles on Serena and she basically forfeits the match. Anyway. It’s a fun clip.
I adore Serena Williams and believe that she and her gorgeous sister revolutionized women’s tennis for the better; however, I also believe her behavior at the US Open was atrocious. The line judge was calm and composed through the first rant (look at the spectators behind her–they’re freaking out) and she first reported to the main judge because she was called. As for her return to the judge’s chair, that occurred on Serena’s third appraoch and I think she was understandably and justifiably concerned for her safety.
I completely agree with you opinion on the whole Kanye-Taylor Swift- VMAs thing but calling him an alcoholic and cursing like a 6th grader trying to sound cool is pushing it. I’m pretty sure you’d get pissed if someone called you an alcoholic after getting drunk. And this from someone who severely dislikes Kanye West.
If you’re walking the red carpet with a bottle in your hand, it’s not a totally unreasonable assumption.
Wasn’t the VMA appearance part of his job? I’m sure if I showed up at work while drinking I’d be pretty fired! And so would the rest of us. So yeah I’d say he’s an alcoholic. And if he’s not then he’s just straight up mentally challenged!
yes – i’d have to agree that the term “tattled” is belittling the line judges actions – making her seem at fault.
when you look at the four of them huddling together – you can see how much bigger serena is to the judge. she must have felt as threatened as if a man were throwing a tantrum in her direction…
It seems really odd that you are connecting your hatred of Kanye with the story of Serena Williams. What is the connections I wonder? I don’t see how they should be together.
Could it be the colour of their skin that is motivating you?
Stop trying to play the race card you dumb ass drama queen! She made the connection in her post saying that this weekend seemed to be full of highly publicized angry rants. First with Serena then Kanye. They just both happen to have darker skin. Do you really need more drama in your life that you feel the need to try and start it here on a gossip forum?
Seriously, DP. Give the whole race card thing a rest.

Serena vs. Kanye in Super Death Cage Match of All Time!!!
LMAO!!! I’d so watch that! And just for the record, she’d totally whoop his sorry ass!
just so you know, she didn’t forfeit the match. she lost fair and square because it was her second code misconduct of the match and she lost a point – which happened to be match point.
As you mention, the two situations are not exactly the same. The Kanye interruption was completely disgusting behavior, and it was a selection that did not involve him in the slightest!
But with Serena, although highly uncalled-for and inappropriate, her reactions were not alcohol-affected or random. They involved her and, however rude she was to the judge, she was reacting to her own tennis match.
Now, she has publicly apologized. I am sure she is sorry that she overreacted, and I thought her apology was sincere. Time to back off of Serena.
There is an interesting summary video on all of this Serena business at newsy.com. They show different opinions and sources, and it’s worth watching if you have a few minutes:
