Aw, man! Sometimes I watch things on television that make me cringe. You know the type of thing where you wish you weren’t watching but you’ll kill anyone who reaches for the remote? This was one of those times. Nightline‘s Cynthia McFadden interviewed Tyra Banks and it aired last night. She asked all the appropriate questions (even if she couldn’t pronounce Paulina Porizkova’s name) about Tyra’s successes and relationships and blah, blah, blah. However, the only thing anyone probably cares about — why do the America’s Top Model judges keep dropping off like flies? — and McFadden was met with silence and crazy eyes. Even after being warned by Tyra’s publicist a couple of times, she just. Kept. Asking. I think that’s the sign of a good journalist, but it still made me bite my nails. I thought Tyra was going to jump out of her seat, grab Cynthia McFadden by her ankles and start swinging her over her head. Or slather her with Grey Poupon and ask for a knife and fork.
All the uncomfortableness happens in the first four minutes. Keep watching if you want to know what Tyra defines as “giving back” — I’ll just tell you: letting the public know when she has cramps. Nope, not kidding. Over-sharer, party of one.
What is up with that stepford wife smile? Ooo and the strategic blinking that kept her from tearing Cynthia apart is classic. Oh Tyra do we love you? “What do you think?” -insert crazy eyes-
Something tells me Cynthia McFadden will never be a guest judge…
Damn, she’s so weird. “I interview people.” Shut up crazy bitch.
I’m not sure if it was part of the clip that’s posted (I can’t check, I’m at work), but I was the interview on Nightline Tuesday night and there was also a great part where Tyra claimed one of her faults is being too nice. Riiiiiiiight. I went to a taping of her show once and she totally ignored the audience and was SO distant to her guests when the cameras weren’t rolling. I think Miss Thang is a little delusional.
But yea, I officially love Cynthia for grilling her on that, lol. TOOO funny.
Jenn B you’re hot! Let’s hook up sometime. You+Me+Beet=Heeeyyooh!!!
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH.
This is so great. SO great.
Well i have never watched that models show, so i had no idea she had problems with janice dickinson and the other judge… But janice is crazy, so i wouldnt believe anything that comes out of her mouth anyway..
What was uncomfortable for me to see, was the hair thing… That was really weird…
Honestly though, Tyra had an opportunity to talk trash about Paulina and Janice but she didn’t. You have to give her some credit for that. It’s more respect than they had.
I want Cynthia to interview Chris Brown.
typical Cali girl……nicey nicey all the while being condescending and ostentacious…….ofcourse she doesn’t want the jets and the this and that – all her $$ goes to weaves n such – lmao!
Don’t go on Niteline if you’re not willing to talk about what we all care to hear!
I think she didnt anwser those questions about paulina and janice because she knows it’s true, so she doesnt want them to rise again against her now that it has calmed down.
and all that crap abouto being so nice??? come on!! is that the whole interview??
and btw, she should’ve told her that her “winners” are hated women too…
As annoying as Tyra was with her fake smile and “I wish I were more of a diva” comments I think she was right not to answer those questions. I think that if you agree with a publicist that a pre-condition of your interview is not to talk about something, you should stick to it. Otherwise you are being dishonest. Honesty is a commendable quality in journalism. That is what makes a journalist respected once they finish their careers. Going beyond your agreements with sources or people you interview only makes you someone who chases sensationalism. I really respect Fareed Zakaria, he did an interview with the PM of China and it was amazing. He was able to respectfully ask important questions without obviously going beyond the limits of the PM. The world was able to see into a secretive regime because of his journalistic integrity. Im not impressed by sensationalism. Anything Tyra said about Janice and the other judge would just add to the sensationalism about the in-fighting that goes on in reality shows.
“The nice girl all the time”?? The only two episodes I’ve ever watched of Tyra involved her yelling at an audience member to shut up and sit down, or yelling at a guest to shut up and sit down. Not to mention she told Janice Dickinson that she’s the reason that girls bend over a toilet. Don’t get me wrong, Janice Dickinson is not so “righteous” herself, but seriously Tyra, give it up.
I don’t think I blinked for 6 minutes and 37 seconds during that interview. I don’t know if I was in such awe of how strange she is, or if Tyra is trying to hypnotize people to like her by using her crazy eyes, creepy smile, and head tilt. Sorry Tyra, it’s not working to your advantage.
And really, the last thing I want to hear about is her cramps. I have my own, thank you, and I know how to alleviate them without sharing every detail “24/7” to strangers.
