Chris Brown was finally sentenced today for beating up his ex-girlfriend Rihanna earlier this year, and boy was it a doozy. Well, as far as watered-down celebrity justice goes.
Not only will Brown have to complete 1,400 hours of comunity service, including washing cars and cleaning up graffiti, but he will also have to stay away from Rihanna (despite her request to have the restraining order lifted) for the next five years. No phone calls, no email, and he must stay away from her at all times. However, he did get that typical star treatment, as he only has to stay 10 yards away from her if they are at the same events (who is still inviting Chris Brown to events?) and his community service, which is supposed to be completed in a six-month period, is flexible so that he can maintain his singing career.
Although a five year ban from her harmful ex could be the best thing that’s happened to Rihanna since the night that left her battered and bruised, she does have the option to ask for the restraining order to be modified, making it possible for the two to speak and maintain contact. The courts have advised against it, but it’s not uncommon for victims to sympathize with their attackers, especially when the parties involved are only 20 and 21 years old.
Any word on where he’ll be cleaning cars and graffiti? I’m in the area, and I think I might want to go point and laugh.

I think the photos taken the night Rhianna was beaten were so horrific that the court is making sure she’s protected from herself. Every time her attorney walks into court to ask for a modification the DA’s office will break out those photos and the order won’t be changed very much. If she asks for a change then she does need to be protected from herself as much as she needs to be protected from Chris Brown, if he had a knife that night she would have been killed.
He’s a POS and I can’t wait until his career is finally dead and I won’t have to see his smug mug again.

He is such a scumbag. I heard a recording of the sentencing this morning. When the judge kept talking to him, asking him if he understood this and that, he didn’t reply with a, “Yes, your honor.” Each reply from him was a disinterested, “Yeah.”

I live about 30 minutes away from his home town, I’m wondering where exactly he’ll be doing community service? I too would love to point and laugh. I think he should have received jail time, he merely got just a slap on the wrist. I’m his age as well, and I don’t feel him being so lightly sentenced says much about how wrong domestic abuse is. I grew up watching my father put his hands on my mother, and seeing her pictures after the incident gave me chills. It’s a shame.
You never hear what provoked an attack like that … funny how no one ever thinks about it … research on abuse shows men feel abused by partners as often as women it’s just a different sort …. because women can’t use force they use mental abuse and then QQ when their partners react … if Brown wasn’t a star he would have got less punishment … get over it !
