Brad Pitt Keeps It Real About Tom Cruise

While promoting his recent flick, Inglorious Basterds, Brad Pitt made a surprising statement about fellow A-lister Tom Cruise’s work.

The star may just be passionate about how much Basterds holds up, there’s a chance he could have some Scientolobeef with Cruise, who has just gotten stranger and stranger over the last few years. Pitt told the German mag Stern, “The second World War could still deliver more stories and films, but I believe that Quentin [Tarantino, director] put a cover on that pot. With Basterds, everything than can be said to this genre has been said. The film destroys every symbol. The work is done, end of story.”

When the reporter further probed him to comment on Cruise’s last film from the same time period, Valkyrie, Pitt just said, “It was a ridiculous movie.”

I’m not all too sure if Pitt and Cruise have a past of being buddies, but I’m sure that Brad and Angie wont be invited to the Celebrity Center for cocktails and auditing any time soon after that very public shut down.

  • Ugh, I cannot STAND Brad Pitt. Who is he to talk? Far be it from me to defend Tom Cruise, but Valkyrie was not bad, horrible or ridiculous. I think at that time, Tom Cruise had amassed such a persona for being “strange” that it would not have mattered what he did, people were going to take the movie badly.

But it actually did well at the box office, making over $100 million, I think. It had great actors in it and critics overall thought everyone did a good job.

MK said it best when he said that from the trailers, all you can really take from it is that he butchers the Southern accent. And Brad’s accent in Troy was “ridiculous” and he was the weakest part of Benjamin Button. The most interesting part of him was that he aged backwards and for that I give credit to the special effects crew. I wouldn’t have even cared about his character if it wasn’t for that.

    • I agree with you. You can tell this guy thinks he’s better than everybody else. That time period was extremely important for the US and the world, just because he did an unfactual movie on it, doesn’t mean that this genre should be done.

I’m not a huge fan of quentin tarantino either. His movies are based on violence and sensationalism, without any real content.

    • Oh, and I also forgot to add: He thinks this movie will “put a cover” on the pot of WWII stories and plots??

Eff off, Pitt! Can someone remind him of the other lesser known movies like Schindler’s List,The Pianist, The Reader, etc, etc…

He’s right. This movie beats all the others.

      Ass.

  • am i the only one who thinks it’s funny that “stern” is the german word for star? so creative.

  • Dear Brad,
I do believe it is past time for you to STFU. You live on the strange side of town too.
    Lovingly,
    Bleh

  • i don’t know what movie you guys saw, but tom cruise was HORRIBLE in valkyrie. at least the other actors were able to pull off a german accent. i couldnt see cruise as anyone but himself in that movie….and i normally love tom cruise movies don’t get me wrong. but his last one put me to sleep! i think brad was just being honest thats all. it actually made 80 mill in box office…just fyi. love quentin movies, always have, i mean how could you not like pulp fiction? i guess its for some & not for others. im excited about this new flick, i’ve heard great things about it. and i don’t think tom cruise is gonna sweat what brad pitt has to say about his movie, he’s a grown man. he can get over it.

  • Valkyrie wasn’t a bad movie and had an amazing support cast. It was fairly accurate and not too hollywood. The only unfortunate part was Tom Cruise. What a total shame.

  • So, Brad lost my vote a long time ago when he left Jennifer Aniston for the horror that is Angelina Jolie. However, now that I know that he is a gay loving, Tom Cruise hating pot smoker, I am back on board!!!

  • I look at that picture and immediately want to order a 2 piece of the Colonel’s special recipe. With a biscuit and large Coke.

  • don’t quote me but if remember correctly, back in Interview with a Vampire film, Tom Cruise was the leading character however more recognition went to Brad. Tom Cruise mad and had made a big deal about that. I wonder if that created some bad blood? seems like a long time to carry onto it.

    • Yeah but Tom went on to have a massive career, with oscars, and huge box office and being the highest paid actors ever etc…doubt he gives a crap about something that happened so long ago…Plus I thought Brad was horrible as a vampire…
Brad better hope this movie is as good as he says, or hes gonna look like a massive turd

  • I’m pretty sure he’s joking. Isn’t Inglourious Basterds supposed to be to WWII movies what Tropic Thunder was to nam movies?

  • not that i’m a pitt fan but that doesn’t sound at all like him…a quick look on imdb (on the valkyrie page) and you find an article explaining what really happened – a mistranslation…

    recant???
