Holy moly. A whopping 1.6 million people from around the world put their names in the lottery to win tickets for the Michael Jackson memorial service at the Staples Center on Tuesday. There was a random drawing of 8,750 names, and the winners are being notified today.
The tickets will admit 11,000 people to the Staples Center plus 6,500 in the Nokia Theater overflow section next door. The streets around the stadium will be closed to prevent those without tickets from trying to attend, police said Sunday.
If you’re not one of the lucky (?) people to win tickets for what is sure to be the histrionic shit-show of the century, don’t fret. Every television station ever is going to be covering it. Frankly, to me, this sounds kind of like any major event — I’d just rather be watching it from the comfort of my living room. If there’s anything I hate more than crowds, it’s screaming crowds.
Posted this link yesterday but it was so good I figured I would do it again.
Watch this video and read the text and tell me if you guys still think Michael Jackson is innocent.

I think laughing and covering my face would be my exact reaction if someone accused me of molesting a child. It would be a laughable accusation. I don’t think this is particularly damning evidence one way or another.
To me it shows that he was a 10-year-old in the body of someone five times that age. He went through some heavy shit and decided he never wanted to grow up.
I am mystified why so many people don’t see the obvious. I was with family members over the 4th and they also think he was just a perpetual ‘man-boy’ who simply liked to sleep/cuddle with little boys but no molestation. eww.
I asked my sister-in-law if she thought he was so benign, would she would let her child go on tour with him. She said no, but not because he was a molester, but for other reasons.
I just don’t get why the power of his persona prevents most people from seeing the obvious. This phenomenon is probably material for some psychology dissertation. (I’m only half joking on this :)
Thank you Beet. You took the words right out of my mouth.
You don’t smile and laugh at such an accusation (unless you are guilty).
spoken like someone who’s been in the hot seat!
You aren’t really making your case with this video. You know as much as the rest of us, which is nothing. I believe he was a man-child who was petrified of sex. He is uncomfortable in the interview because he is obvs uncomfortable with anything sexual. Was he kinda off? DUH. But I sincerely doubt he touched anyone. If anything, the video you posted further concludes my point.
When I saw the napkin I thought it was his hand in a glove.
Thats what I thought too… haha
People already have the tickets they won listed on Ebay. Ha. No surprise there.
u couldn’t pay me to attend the funeral of an alleged child molester- wtf people thinking?
people are paying tribute to the artist and entertainer Michael Jackson. there are more facets to his persona than his child molestation charges. he was a very important musician. I think it’s too bad most people of our generation disregard that.
Oh, I see. So that means we will all want to pay tribute to Phil Spector after he dies, even though he put a gun in the mouth of his date and blew her teeth out of the back of her head. I mean he was one of the most important people in the music business for over 40 years. That’s how people like you think, huh? Weird.
Love your ‘phil spector’ analogy.
Mind if I use that at work tomorrow?
“re” that is the most idiot and offensive statement I have read on this website.
Child molesters should never be tolerated. As a parent with two kids I think anyone who touches a child like Michael did should be put in jail for life without parole.
hdkhfkjsh YOU ARE A PARENT!?
I live down the street from Staple’s center….I am SOOO excited for the thousands of tourists and their traffic.
I don’t believe I’ll be leaving my house that day, lol
So do I!
I will be watching the mess form my roof at 9th and Broadway!
It’s bizarre that a funeral people get tickets to ends up having them saying “OMG OMG OMG!” on Twitter.. isn’t it?? I guess maybe that’s the atmosphere he’d have preferred rather than weeping and tearing of clothes or whatever.. it’s pretty bizarre in general but I hope it helps with the public grief because as corny as that may sound it’s still something people go through. I wouldn’t put myself in that boat, but.. maybe I’m cold? I dunno.. I just hope people will remember the music and what it meant to them and go with that as an overall thing to take a way. A highly skilled entertainer has passed away, that’s how I see it.
And I didn’t get tickets.. booo! :)
For crying out loud ; are some individuals so ” lame and narrow minded ” as to being able to use phsycology ???? Michael Jackson wasn’t the monster that so many people portrayed him to be . Michael was delighted to see children ( particularly less fortunate ) embrace the opportunity to have the kind of childhood that he never had . He was aquitted in a court of law of the charges of molesting any children . Still the ” M.J. ” haters that don’t have the legitimate facts to back up their accusations are still determined to make the noise of an empty wagon . The attraction that that he had with young children did appear to be bizzare , but that didn’t mean that he molested young children . As mentioned earlier he saw himself through children who enjoyed a childhood at his ” Neverland Ranch ” that he never had as a child . Michael Jackson has had his day in court ; many priest that have been accused and confirmed of the same charges haven’t had to go before a judge and perhaps never will .
I think he may’ve touched one or more of those kids. The one he was outwardly accused of anyway.. We don’t know for sure but I think he may’ve. That said, I don’t believe it was the type of “touching” that comes to mind, ie. well planned, don’t tell or I’ll kill your family, blood and tears kind of touching. I think if it happened, it was more akin to two kids having a sleepover and messing around. I base that on how he appeared in interviews – like a kid himself. He was fairly unhinged obviously but very very immature and I agree with the above poster that he saw himself as a child. I don’t think if he did something like that it was malicious. But that’s just how I see it and what I think.
WHY CAN’T THEY JUST LET HIM REST IN PEACE?! jesus..
i think about the gererations
and thay say thay want to make it
a better place for our children & our children’s children
so that thay thay thay know it’s a better world for them
and i think thay can make it a better place))
There’s A Place In
Your Heart
And I Know That It Is Love
And This Place Could
Be Much
Brighter Than Tomorrow
And If You Really Try
You’ll Find There’s No Need
To Cry
In This Place You’ll Feel
There’s No Hurt Or Sorrow
There Are Ways
To Get There
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Little Space
Make A Better Place…
Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me
If You Want To Know Why
There’s A Love That
Cannot Lie
Love Is Strong
It Only Cares For
Joyful Giving
If We Try
We Shall See
In This Bliss
We Cannot Feel
Fear Or Dread
We Stop Existing And
Start Living
Then It Feels That Always
Love’s Enough For
Us Growing
So Make A Better World
Make A Better World…
Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Dream We Were
Conceived In
Will Reveal A Joyful Face
And The World We
Once Believed In
Will Shine Again In Grace
Then Why Do We Keep
Strangling Life
Wound This Earth
Crucify Its Soul
Though It’s Plain To See
This World Is Heavenly
Be God’s Glow
We Could Fly So High
Let Our Spirits Never Die
In My Heart
I Feel You Are All
My Brothers
Create A World With
No Fear
Together We’ll Cry
Happy Tears
See The Nations Turn
Their Swords
Into Plowshares
We Could Really Get There
If You Cared Enough
For The Living
Make A Little Space
To Make A Better Place…
Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me
Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race

Ooh ooh ooh aah
Gotta make a change
For once in my life
It’s gonna feel real good
Gonna make a difference
Gonna make it right
As I turned up the collar on
A favorite winter coat
This wind is blowin’ my mind
I see the kids in the street
With not enough to eat
Who am I to be blind
Pretending not to see their needs
A summer’s disregard
A broken bottle top
And a one man’s soul
They follow each other
On the wind ya’ know
‘Cause they got nowhere to go
That’s why I want you to know
I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change, yey
Na na na, na na na, na na na na oh ho
I’ve been a victim of
A selfish kinda love
It’s time that I realize
There are some with no home
Not a nickel to loan
Could it be really pretending that they’re not alone
A willow deeply scarred
Somebody’s broken heart
And a washed out dream
(Washed out dream)
They follow the pattern of the wind ya’ see
‘Cause they got no place to be
That’s why I’m starting with me
I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change
I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make that change
I’m starting with the man in the mirror
(Man in the mirror, oh yeah)
I’m asking him to change his ways, yeah
(Change)
No message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make the change
You gotta get it right, while you got the time
‘Cause when you close your heart
(You can’t close your, your mind)
Then you close your mind
(That man, that man, that man)
(That man, that man, that man)
(With the man in the mirror, oh yeah)
(That man you know, that man you know)
(That man you know, that man you know)
I’m asking him to change his ways
(Change)
No message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself then make that change
(Na na na, na na na, na na na na)
Ooh
Oh yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
(Na na na, na na na, na na na na)
Oh no
Oh no, I’m gonna make a change
It’s gonna feel real good
Sure mon
(Change)
Just lift yourself
You know, you got to stop it yourself
(Yeah)
Oh
Make that change
(I gotta make that change today, oh)
(Man in the mirror)
You got to, you got to not let yourself, brother oh
Yeah
You know that
(Make that change)
(I gotta make that make me then make)
You got, you got to move
Sure mon, sure mon
You got to
(Stand up, stand up, stand up)
Make that change
Stand up and lift yourself, now
(Man in the mirror)
Make that change
(Gonna make that change, sure mon)
(Man in the mirror)
You know it, you know it, you know it, you know
(Change)
Make that change
Hey, that’s pretty darn good. You should become a songwriter!!!!! I’m going to print all these out and read them to the kid down the street as a bedtime story tonight!!!!! Thanks.
Like A Comet
Blazing ‘Cross The Evening Sky
Gone Too Soon
Like A Rainbow
Fading In The Twinkling Of An Eye
Gone Too Soon
Shiny And Sparkly
And Splendidly Bright
Here One Day
Gone One Night
Like The Loss Of Sunlight
On A Cloudy Afternoon
Gone Too Soon
Like A Castle
Built Upon A Sandy Beach
Gone Too Soon
Like A Perfect Flower
That Is Just Beyond Your Reach
Gone Too Soon
Born To Amuse, To Inspire, To Delight
Here One Day
Gone One Night
Like A Sunset
Dying With The Rising Of The Moon
Gone Too Soon
Gone Too Soon
What about sunrise
What about rain
What about all the things
That you said we were to gain…
What about killing fields
Is there a time
What about all the things
That you said was yours and mine…
Did you ever stop to notice
All the blood we’ve shed before
Did you ever stop to notice
The crying Earth the weeping shores?
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah
What have we done to the world?
Look what we’ve done.
What about all the peace,
That you pledge your only son?
What about flowering fields?
Is there a time?
What about all the dreams,
That you said was yours and mine?
Did you ever stop to notice,
All the children dead from war?
Did you ever stop to notice,
The crying Earth the weeping shores?
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah
I used to dream
I used to glance beyond the stars
Now I don’t know where we are
Although I know we’ve drifted far
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah
Hey, what about yesterday
(What about us)
What about the seas
(What about us)
The heavens are falling down
(What about us)
I can’t even breathe
(What about us)
What about the bleeding Earth
(What about us)
Can’t we feel its wounds
(What about us)
What about nature’s worth
(ooo, ooo)
It’s our planet’s womb
(What about us)
What about animals
(What about it)
We’ve turned kingdoms to dust
(What about us)
What about elephants
(What about us)
Have we lost their trust
(What about us)
What about crying whales
(What about us)
We’re ravaging the seas
(What about us)
What about forest trails
(ooo, ooo)
Burnt despite our pleas
(What about us)
What about the holy land
(What about it)
Torn apart by creed
(What about us)
What about the common man
(What about us)
Can’t we set him free
(What about us)
What about children dying
(What about us)
Can’t you hear them cry
(What about us)
Where did we go wrong
(ooo, ooo)
Someone tell me why
(What about us)
What about babies
(What about it)
What about the days
(What about us)
What about all their joy
(What about us)
What about the man
(What about us)
What about the crying man
(What about us)
What about Abraham
(What was us)
What about death again
(ooo, ooo)
Do we give a damn
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah

[Ad-Lib To Fade]
All of yall kill me with this slander against Michael Jackson. One you want to call him the “King of Pop” but in the same breath call him a molester or he isn’t the father of those children or what have you. I am tired of the slander, the man has been stressed over this same stuff for years and what good does do still keeping this alive. If he did he did, and if he didn’t he didn’t. Yall all kill me just let the man rest in peace. I will never slander a person when he is not here to defend himself. So all yall should be ashamed of yourselves speaking on this man like he done wrong all his life. They used Michael for this contraversy and slander tops the charts like records do. I don’t believe in none of this but what I will say is R.I.P. Michael! 1958-2009 King of POP forever nobody does it better!
So we should speak well of all people who have done horrible things but are now dead?
Give me a break.
Thanks SGT. As an aside, I hope you’re better at shooting those nasty Iraqis than forming sentences.
In your opinion, will the Michael Jackson funeral be available on DVD? http://www.votetheday.com/MJmusic/will-michael-jackson-funeral-be-available-on-dvd-429/
