On Saturday, we will celebrate the birthday of the United States, and the freedoms we enjoy in this country — for some, it will be a sober occasion, with family and loved ones stationed overseas and at risk.

We can, however, expect absolutely zero sobriety today, as Lindsay Lohan celebrates her 23rd birthday. Remember when they let her out of rehab briefly to celebrate her 21st? And she had to drink water and Red Bull and stuff? NEVER AGAIN!

From all of us to you, Lindsay, happy birthday. Try not to die.

On another note, we’re taking some time off around here to celebrate the national holiday that is Lindsay’s birthday. And the Fourth of July, I suppose. I’ll be around here and there to cover breaking news, but Wendie and Kelly are taking a well-deserved break until Monday. Have a happy and safe holiday!

  • I have to say, despite Lindsay’s terrible outfits lately, I really like this one.
    I’m not big on the boots. I think she’d do better with some gladiator sandals, but the top, necklace, shorts, sunglasses, and Chloe bag are nice.

  • You can always tell when Beet’s back to doing her job here when the amount of useless Lindsay Lohan stories suddenly start showing up. Ugh. Most uninteresting, worthless “celebrity” ever.

  • Would it really kill her to put on a bra now and then, especially when wearing slightly see-through shirts? I’ve seen her boobs enough for one life time, I think we all know what they look like and that you have them Lindsay. Please put on some undergarments for once.

    • I had a sis-in -law who was the same way. When you have a chest no bra makes everything go south faster. Nothing grosser then nipples popping out the bottom of a sweater (before she was 30)

    I’m super curious about this upcoming reality show she’s working on with Ryan Seacrest…actually more frightened than curious. But still hoping for that comeback..

    Is it true that she hates JT? If so I love her more! He sucks.

  • I will always have a soft spot in my heart for this kid. She’s got a lot of talent, but she just seems lost. I really hope things work out between Lindsay and Samantha.

  • I’m going to risk being mocked here and suggest she’s as sober as one could reasonably expect of a 23 y.o. Kids drink a lot, nothing wrong with that. Also, allow me to go out on a limb and suggest the occasional line of coke is probably fine too, especially on your birthday. When I think back to my 23rd birthday, shit it went on for a week and involved veterinary syringes. Let’s give LL a break and let her have a bit of fun ppl.

    • I am always on the same page as you..but hardly reply because its rarely worth it.

      My friends and I have done much the same as Lilo at the same age and are all now employed making great money in respectable positions..

      I don’t care if she drinks..I’ve known people to get DUI’s and regret it, fix it, and I don’t expect them to never drink again..its not good, but not normally a habit.

      I get shit on here sometimes for sticking up for Lilo.. I don’t care if she drinks..why not? My friends still do, and we all make good money and contribute to society despite our shortcomings as kids..get over it

      My point has always been, we give everyone else a chance for a comeback, but hope Lilo screws up? Come on..stupid..she deserves a second chance..

  • Yes, mcbiscuit, yes!!! At age 23 I had dropped so much acid and snorted so much blow and here I am 13 years later and fine!!! On to a different subject…why hire two extra writers and then give them the holiday off? Put their asses to work and go enjoy yourself Beet…just my take on the situation.

    • Exactly – getting fucked up is a rite of passage. Why should Lindsay Lohan be held to a different standard?

      Be very careful when it comes to the topic of *one* of the “extra writers” and time off. I’ll call her “K” okay? See, “K” works two jobs, so getting any time off is really, really tough for her, poor little thing. And I guess she’s just so worn out and all, that comments that discuss her time off tend to make her lash out a bit. Must be difficult working so much, not to mention the rigors of being so professional that she attacks and judges innocent comments in order to explain her own personal life choices.
      But here’s the really good part: just consider EB to be M-F fun only, which gives you even more time for a fab personal life. The bonus is you miss the crappy weekend posts and the attitude.

      • I will tread lightly with my comments so as to not upset the “unnamed one”. Thanks for the heads up…M-F is the best material anyways, so I won’t be tempted to check in this weekend and take time away from my holiday. Wendie and Beet do deserve the time off after all…did I forget anyone? No…ha ha ha!!

      • Oh I’ll say it…yes KELLY SUCKS BALLS. Get a new weekend writer Sasha!!!! Whenever I check EB I always get disapointed on the weekends with the dim witted posts. Remember Father’s Day? Some think it’s “intellegent” writing; well, just because she uses big words doesn’t mean it’s any good..in fact you could call her posts bombastic. Oh theres a nice big word for you Kelly. Sorry I’m sure your a nice person or whatever but your posts are corny and your sarcasm is banal. Stick to your day job…

        Thank god for WENDIE!!! You def. deserve the break the most out of all the writers…especially being a full time mom. Guess what, you don’t ever get a break with that kind of job! It is 24/7…365 days….and she posts all freggin week! Why does someone who writes crappy posts for 2 days need a break? Maybe she needs a permanent break!

      • sorry Kells, no hard feelings, just the nature of the beast. That is why there is a comments section, so we can voice our opinions. And it doesn’t look like I’m the only one that doesn’t like Kelly’s writing. That is all. I’m not dissing her as a person, I just don’t think she is cut out for writing a gossip blog. I mean, it isn’t completely her fault, basically for a while now Wendie has been doing the majority of the writing, while Sasha will make a post or two about Lindsay Lohan and how desperate she is. Then on the weekends you get the boring unhumorous sarcasm crap that Kelly spews out and that is it. I’m used to it now..just sad that EB has kind of lost it’s luster other than Wendie. Also, of all the times to take a break in writing when MJ just passed, it’s beyond dumb to me to ignore this insanity in the gossip world…I’ll be going somewhere else on the weekends from now on. Maybe those of you who don’t like weekend posts should do the same. Hopefully they’ll get the message and do something. If not, oh well.

      • I think Kelly is great.As well as Evil Beet and Wendie.I think Beet did a good job hiring Kelly and I enjoyed all her posts.I’ve seen a lot of gossip-sites and there is not a single one that you could compare with this one.I read somewhere that there have been people giving Wendie a hard time too,when she was “the new one”,but Kelly is a writer here now for,I don’t know,a half year?So why don’t we skip all this ridiculous “Beet,you should hire someone else”-crap and just go with “You don’t like it-don’t read it”

        and @ god:that thing with the “Wendie deserves the break the most because she’s a full-time mom!” is total shit.So the other writers don’t deserve the break as much as her just because they don’t have kids?

      • Do you have kids? Do you have any idea of the amount of time, patience, and energy they take up? Plus the fact that wendy basically writes 80% of the posts here? Yes, she deserves the break the most. Kelly pulls shit out of her ass and only writes for 2 days while Beet barely posts here anymore because she is too busy vacationing. And I’m not picking on Kelly because she is new, I just think her posts are really boring and suck.

      • Well I’ll weigh in her too and say Kelly is definately boring and nondescript. EB has a distinctive voice-breezy, upbeat, witty. Wendie has one too- dark, sarcastic and very funny. Kelly- nothing, no style.

  • Beet – where did all these bored and hateful children come from who are now routinely posting comments on this site? Immaturity is no excuse for being unkind. Delete them, is my suggestion.

    As for you hateful souls – leave “K” be, if you don’t like her style, don’t read her posts. And pray no one ever throws such vitriol at you. It is never a good thing to hurt someone’s feelings. Never.

    “K” – if you can, ignore these tantrum like comments. The comments aren’t about you, the comments reflect tedious personalities. They need a time out.

  • I, for one, adore Kelly. I think she is incredibly more entertaining than Wendie. If anyone should leave, it shouldn’t be Kelly.

  • listen, I love kelly and all… and I am not gonna lie- when Wendie first got here I didn’t like her posts AT ALL.. and now I love them! I mean I love how I can just read a post and know exactly who is writing it… but with kelly her posts just arent as entertaining. and I mean I understand the girl is really busy- I think if she had more time to post we would warm up to her (Seriously weekend posts take FOREVER to go up and when they do they are short… and usually no more than like, two…)- I know its like ‘hey losers get off the internet and go out on the weekends!’ but the thing is I dont have weekends off- I work at home on my computer and EB weekend posts used to break up my day but not so much anymore. I’m just sayin- I am not saying that Kely should leave or anything- but you just have to recognize when you have spread yourself too thin…

  • I DID read the blog and all, but i do still think that one of the requirements of being a blogger, especially of a gossip website, is the fact that you have to constantly update. I understand that this is a holiday, but there are 3 writers. Kids or not, someone should say something? Is it gonna be like this for Christmas, and Thanksgiving, and all other minor holidays? I really don’t want to go back to Perez…
