What’s up with this? Despite all the buzz around Adam Lambert, yesterday’s performance finale of American Idol drew the lowest ratings ever for a finale of the series. Granted, the “lowest ratings ever” still involve 23.7 million people, but what’s the deal with this?
My opinion?
Everyone already knew Adam was going to win by a landslide. It wasn’t an exciting, tight race to tune in for. I like Kris, I do, but he doesn’t stand a chance against Adam, who’s been unstoppable since day one. You could totally tell in the judge’s final remarks; they were all like “You’ve done a great job, Kris. You should be really proud of yourself.” Like the way I talk to my chihuahua when he and my neighbor’s golden retriever race for a ball up on my deck. “Good job, Leo! You ran really fast after that ball! You’ve got a lot of spirit, boy!” Meanwhile, the golden retriever’s clear on the other side of the deck with the ball hanging out of his mouth, while my dog’s still staring at me, waiting for me to finish what I’m saying before he prances five feet away and begins sunbathing.
Oh, and Kara’s single? SUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS. I think the word “mountain” should be banned from song lyrics. President Obama?
Nothing to do with Idol, blah blah blah, Adam wins.

I hope Adam wins, but I’m not sure he’s a shoo-in. I fear that many of the people who were voting for Danny will vote for Kris. Well, maybe “fear” isn’t the right word, cause I don’t really care that much… not much at all. Why the hell am I bothering to even post? Oh – because I was laid off from my job and have nothing better to do. And now I’m having a conversation with myself via a comment on a gossip blog. Clearly I should be getting a crazy check.
Adam is my least favorite singer since Fantasia… and his career will be the same… his screech is not commercially viable. Kris can be a Daughtery/One Republic alternative. Hope it goes Kris’s way just to see Paula cry.

you are so right, i could not stop thinking that kara’s single was so effing bad. it’s so cookie-cutter and melodramatic. very reminicient of miley cyrus’s “the climb” except…even more horrible if possible.
I wouldn’t be so quick to assume Adam is going to win. I hope he does because I Looooooooovvvveeeee him. But, I have feeling Kris may pull this one out. He has a VERY strong fan base. I really like him too. But, my vote did go Adam. Fingers crossed!

I don’t think this is Adam Lambert’s show. I think if there was an American Broadway Actor quest he would definitely win but screaming that tacky voice the same way constantly drives me bonkers. Its like teeth on styrofoam. I like it when he actually sings and doesn’t go so over the top. Lets face it, he won’t make a career selling CD’s after this, he is a broadway actor! I can’t wait til the judges quit stroking his balls and give EVERYONE a chance next season.

It has the lowest ratings Ever because it is the weakest Idol finale EVER cause Kris looks constipated when he sings… he’s so regular… as for Adam, he’s a copycat and needs to stop screaming, the guy irritates the fuck out of me geez as for the judges they all need to go, I can’t stand any of them.

i dont watch AI but my mom does and i got sucked in last night. i only know about adam because of this blog. after watching last nights episode my only real comment was “who is this annoying kara bitch (i think she might be more annoying than paula) and who let her ‘write’ that atrocious fucking song.” seriously. tragic all around.
I actually DOUBT Adam will win…especially learning that this was the lowest ratings ever.
I would like to see what the ratings will be for TONIGHT though. I have a feeling a lot of people will be tuning in just to see who wins.

Anyway, I was somewhat surprised by the result. I think Adam played it too gay with the finger nail polish and eye makeup- I read somewhere that most of the voting for AI comes from the souteastern US ( 4 of last 5 winners have been from the southeast). Ain’t no way a huge number of trailer park Baptists are gonna’ vote for a queer, unless it’s a contest so see who gets “saved” or maybe castrated.

The problem here is that there were fewer viewers overall in 2004. The U.S. population has since grown in the last 5 years, and that’s why they still have a percentage ratings system.
In that system, the 2004 finale drew a 12.0 rating, making it the 4th-most-watched finale with respect to the viewing population’s percentage. This year’s, according to A.C. Nielsen and Co., drew a 10.0, THE WORST EVER, even worse than the FIRST season’s 10.8. To many, it was a foregone conclusion that Adam was going to win. They only tuned in, between 9:50 and 10:05, to hear the results. Kris was announced the winner at 10:03 E.S.T. I wonder what the last 4 minutes of the show drew.
