Ok, everyone gathered for the dumbass arraignment and nothing happened. It’s been extended to April 6. You know, more time so that a deal can be cut. Chris was there and looking contrite. I’ll update this post when I can get a full transcript because TMZ’s sound sucks. There was definitely some talk between Chris and his attorney, Mark Geragos. Stay tuned…
Oh, and to be clear, this isn’t a trial-just an arraignment hearing. This is where Chris will enter his plea, which I’m sure will be “not guilty.” Then, a trial date will be set within sixty days of his April 6th arraignment. Unless, of course, aforementioned deal is cut and this never goes to trial. Which is what I suspect is actually going to happen.
UPDATE: One thing I forgot to mention is that Chris Brown needs to behave himself between now and the sixth of April but Rihanna does not request a protective order against him. Therefore, he’s allowed to be with her as long as he doesn’t punch her.
UPDATE: Okay, at the end of the feed, there was a brief conversation between Chris and the attorney that was there to represent Rihanna, Donald Etra. Etra told Chris that Rihanna wants this over as soon as possible. Sigh. Sad.

I hope, for the integrity of the American justice system, that the trial goes through and he’s convicted. Because, seriously.
As much as I agree that a trial NEEDS to happen, I maintain my cynicism. The DA agreed to this extension to April 6th which affirms my belief that they are hammering out a deal.

WTF? Why does she get to decide if she gets a protective order against him or not? When it happened to my friend, the DA’s office automatically put a protective order against him, it didn’t matter what she stated.
Neighbor had a DA do that to her (he was punching her in the face and roommate called the cops). Stupid b!tch kicked out the roommate and and almost lost her kids when the cops caught him at the house while the restraining order was still on. 1 year ago, they’re still together, had another kid, and there is nothing you can do to make her see the light. Some people (men get abused, too) are just too stupid to realise they desrve better
FYI, the judge that arraigns brown on charges (IF any are filed) is required by law to issue a protective order (AKA restraining order). The judge does have the discretion to make it a “no negative contact” order, which means that he can have contact with her, he just can’t be mean to her….which is what he was supposed to do in the first place, but that is neither here nor there. Our judges usually make it a full protective order at the onset (like if defendant pleads not guilty) regardless of victim’s requests b/c if he gets out and kills her, it doesn’t look so good if court said ok to hang out.
regardless, this is a misdemeanor. he might do a little time, but likely not. he is required by law to attend a domestic violence class for an hour once a week for 52 weeks. we’ll see if he does that.
It’s pretty crazy/sad that the inevitable is going to happen: Brown getting off basically free. I think Rihanna is going to end up taking more shit for this than Brown ever will. If she’s not willing to stand up for herself and prosecute this to no end, there are going to be a lot of angry people and she’s definitely going to hear about it. Don’t puss out Rihanna, you’ll be just as guilty as Brown.
I honestly disagree. I think he’ll go the guilty route. A year ago my moms ex boyfriend had a beat down on me, my brother, and her. He plead not guilty, and got away with only having to go to one anger management class. I won’t be surprised if that happens here.
I agree that he’ll plead guilty if it’s downgraded to a misdemeanor. I don’t think he would plead guilty to two felonies. I hope I am wrong. And I’m sorry you went through that. I hope your mom is nowhere near him.
It’s nice to know that the laws and judicial system apply to celebrities much the same way as it does to us middle-class folk.
I am just so perplexed by all this. There is absolutely no doubt that he beat her, yet she is protecting him? Why?! I can’t fathom any excuse that she may have to try to save his ass. Either she feels guilty for some reason, or Chris is hiding something much bigger than I can possibly imagine, and she feels compelled to protect him.
