It’s Official: American Apparel Ads Are Now Actually Porn

aa_ad

Yeah. There are pubes. Lots and lots o’ pubes.

Check out the uncensored versions and get the back-story here.

So obviously my knee-jerk reaction to this is “ewwww” and is also a little concerned about these ads in a company that markets largely to a teenage demo. I mean, this girl barely even looks 18.

Does this signal a change in marketing approaches in America? Is American Apparel spearheading a positive tide-change away from traditional American conservatism? Or is this just bad news bears?

I wanna hear your thoughts.

  • That picture of Miley is now setting the standard. Miley’s mother and grand mother were present when Ann snapped that infamous shot.

  • Sasha Grey. 20 years old. 2008 AVN female porn star of the year. She is very . . . into her work. Google for snips.

  • Is this for real? so basically I’m going to be thumbing through my US weekly and I’m going to see this chick? I don’t believe it. We may have nominated Obama, but middle America is still afraid of boobs.

  • well she’s hardly even advertising anything besides her body…

how can you put up an ad for clothes when you’re naked?
    very inappropriate.

  • I frankly am appalled at the hand location getting in my view and the bich needs a shave………………I’m available anytime for bich shaving

  • This doesn’t make me want to buy socks. Especially thigh high socks. I liked the original American Apparel adds.. This is just garbage.

  • I wouldn’t be as concerned if a) this model weren’t actually a porn star, and b) her cooch were completely covered. Boobs are no big thing, but bush? No. Seriously.
Also I think this is just a ploy by American Apparel to be “edgy.” You know, so that their demographic (a bunch of young, consumeristic hipsters) will take a step back after looking at the ad and go, “Man, that’s so fucking edgy. Just like me! I’ll buy their shit, man.”
God I hate hipsters and the clothing companies that make them.

    • heh, i completely agree with your hipster analogy approach, even though i’m a fan of american apparel. some of their clothes are really nice, especially if i’m looking for something simple and basic. but they always combine clothes with erotic modeling just to be edgy.. they really went over the step here

  • I can tell you first hand that the pictures (pre-pornified) didn’t go over very well at my work place. We were trying to make T-shirts for our team and I was telling my boss how comfortable these american apparel shirts are and they’re a pretty decent price, so I go to the website and BAM. Half naked people on my 24-inch iMac.

    She wasn’t impressed.

    • that is very, very unfortunate. if AA is going to make ads like these they should at least not put them on the homepage of the website, just for reasons like yours!

  • All of these clothing ads have nothing to do with the clothes, from places like American Apparel and A&F to high end designers, they show off sexy poses, nudity and celebrities because they assume that’s what the public wants to see. I for one don’t want to see bush when I’m trying to buy a coat.

It’s not about being a prude or having fear of nudity, it just has nothing to do with buying clothes.

    • But the saddest part is that, it is, in fact, what people wants to see.. They are gonna sell, and they know it.. And there is no way in hell any of us could ever change that.. Porn sells, nudity sells.. There’s just not enough smart people in this world anymore..

  • This, and people are wigged out about breastfeeding pictures on Facebook being gross. Because, you know, THIS is what breasts are for. Selling socks in tandem with vaginas.

  • if you want to sell porn go ahead but putting a pair of socks on a porn star is low-ass rent advertising.

  • I’m not really shocked by this. I mean, using sex to sell stuff is not really a new idea. But this is a bit trashy, advertising to a very young audience using a really young-looking pornstar…

  • American Apparel is the “in” thing at my school. Popular girls wear it on them like billboard ads. I wear it all the time , I dont think the ads really matter. They got our attention right? Bad advertising is better than none.

  • I don’t think it’s on the vanguard or is anything other than the same old tired, trite and cliche approach to making money — sex. Hairy bush or not, AA’s marketing people aren’t the least bit edgy because they believe that to be a naked porn star wearing socks. Didn’t any of them take art history?

There’s no creativity or originality to be found in attempting to connect with people’s sex drive — had they limited these ads to the adult film world, their message would have been more clear and well-received; as it is, it’s just a ridiculous and pathetic stab at being ‘naughty’.

  • thats sasha grey
who is in fact a porn star
and is just 18 in fact
    or maybe 19 now

but she is famous for puking on guys you know whats
but dont ask me why i know that

    cause i wish i didnt

    • twas on the tyra banks show thats why.
      (i hope)
she’s gross, licking toilet bowls, getting punched in the stomach and stuff (didnt see it, as told on the t. banks show)

      • seriously? is this true? do people actually get off on that, seeing a girl vomit while giving head? honestly I am so curious.

  • How can this be considered anything but pornography, especially if they are actually trying to sell something? It’s not art if it’s for sale. Isn’t there a law against posting pornography up where children can see it?

  • Jezebel, which describes the original AA ads as “cheeky,” goes on to say,

But then their ads started getting sexier and sexier, the female bodies in them became perkier, less blemished, and thinner

…and that’s just it. Like, OK, I didn’t like the practice of photographing actual American Apparel employees, because their boss is a complete skeev, but this definitely rubs me worse. And maybe it shouldn’t? Maybe it’s nobler to hire women who actually take their clothes off for a living?

People have been trying to tie this new ad campaign into feminism. And to be fair, huge feminist strides have been made in pornography. Like, in the beginning, it was this act of subjugation: in early pornography, women always averted their eyes, and looking at sexy photos was this creepy voyeur thing. So when models began staring directly into the camera, it was a huge deal. It was like the model was taking ownership of the image, controlling the situation. So I can get the argument; I get how the earlier American Apparel ads were uncomfortable for me because they suggested subjugation; I get how these women are so fierce, in-your-face, owning their sexuality.

But I think the lack of subtlety takes away the charm and meaningfulness. The improbable models of the old ads wore expressions ranging from “I am so uncomfortable doing this photo shoot” to “Come hither.” But these pros have serious Fuck Me Faces. And it’s like, guys, you’re selling fleece sweatshirts. You don’t have to make a sexual revolution out of fleece sweatshirts. The hipster girls curled half-naked in striped socks on the floor behind the counter of a deli, that was fine, whatever. But I don’t need some strumpet making “I will suck your cock” faces at me when all I want is a goddamn unitard.

    • “But I don’t need some strumpet making “I will suck your cock” faces at me when all I want is a goddamn unitard.”

      hahahhaaha

oh, Jennatar. you NEVER need a unitard. love what you wrote.

    • not mostly on sex blogs. this sasha grey ad was only run on one blog. it just got posted everwhere else because, well, sasha grey is pretty fucking amazing.

they’re outre sites, like jezebel says. these aren’t running on normal sites. i’ve seen some of their gay ads (if you can’t tell, that’s my particular persuasion) and they’re just as sexy with men. unfortunately, there’s a stigma for seeing a nude man is a little different.

what i don’t get is why people are confused about what is being sold. in both of the ads i saw, they were both wearing only one item each time. isn’t that simpler?

    • Asta what are you talking about? I’m French and I think those ads are really trashy especially for a company that sell clothes to teenagers. I’ve never seen such trashy ads in France.

      • You are French? Or your great-great grandmother was French. If you were really French, than you would be defending these ads…Its the whole European mind-set regarding sex and nudity. America for the most part is filled with prudes.

      • I am French and I’ve been living in France my whole life, and yes I think sometimes censorship in the States is ridiculous, but those ads are just wrong, I mean naked women to sell socks?? what the fuck?? Because I’m European I should be defending nudity no matter what? I don’t think so. And no I’m not a prude either.

      • Typical American comments… I agree with whatever on this. Just because Europeans have a more liberal attitude towards nudity and sex in general does not mean we automatically agree with this kind of ads.

  • Its pure advertising – they aren’t revolutionising anything, or owning any sexuality, or (in my opinion) exploiting anyone . Sex sells. Teenagers will be all over AA even more now, as its ‘shocking’.

I wouldn’t necessarily call it pornographic, more provocative – pornography implies some kind of sexual stimulation – even if it is just masturbation, or images of genitalia.

At home, I wear less on the beach and no-one cares – its on sex blogs, not on billboards. Storm in a teacup.

  • their low quality clothes are overpriced. their ads are trashy. the only good thing about them is that they manufacture their products in the us instead of outsourcing.

  • Bush is apparently the new black.

First Madonna, now this? Keep the beaver in its cage, ladies.

I’m not offended by the vadge/breast thing. What outrages me is these ridiculously hipster socks probably sell for $35 at AA. I don’t care how comfortable or sexy (or lamé) their garments are; none of them are worth the prices they charge. AA has been trying for years to be as cutting edge as possible with their high-resolution, barely-legal and almost-porn adverts. Now they’ve just taken that small step from ordinary to extraordinary! (Note to AA: Vadge is neither urban nor innovative. Half the population has one.)

They’re a ridiculous concept company with a skeevy man at the helm who apparently believes that a little bit of hip grunge is worth an extra $40.

  • Naked people is not porn*graphy. They are just naked. It may be inappropriate to some, but not to others. I don’t see a banana coming out of any orifices.

Geez, people freak at the sight of a boob, but let their kids watch movies and play video games with fights, shootings, gore, decapitation…. etc. The naked body is a beautiful piece of art, no matter how much you hate yours.

To the kids these days it’s nothing. They have internet and get used to it without even blinking an eye at it any more. If it bothers you than you are probably to old to change. Deal with it. Go pray for all naked people to go away while watching your nightly news with death and destruction.

I’ll take nudity over violence any day. I’d rather leave my kids with a p*rno star than someone who hunts and gets a thrill shooting and gutting.

    But that’s just me.

    • They aren’t just naked. One is striping while the other is touching herself. If that isn’t pornography I don’t know what is.

      • I guess a bunch of women in the showers at a fitness club washing themselves are actually producing pornography. Maybe the model had an itchy hoochie and didn’t have any MONISTAT available.

… and I consult Google Images for all my pornography. Just remember to take the safe search off.

    • This ad isn’t a separate issue from movies, video games, etc., it’s included.

“To the kids these days it’s nothing. They have internet and get used to it without even blinking an eye at it any more.” – Probably true, but INHERENTLY WRONG!!. If that’s their jumping off point, where do they end up?? And not my kid, btw. Yes, that’s right, no Bratz dolls, no violent video games, no surfing the web w/o supervision.

  • I shop there all the time and I will admit that It’s gone a little too far. They had a life size pic of a naked chick with a butt chicks sticking out selling some socks! I know the clothing comes tight, but damn they have taken too far. It’s just for attention!

  • I have always HATed the American Apparal ads more than any other internet ad I have ever seen, I swear it – hated irrationally, fully and wholeheartedly. The most disgusting-looking clothes in the ugliest colours made by humans worn by the most unattractive models I have ever, ever, ever laid eyes upon. And now this, too?

DIS- fucking-GUSTING!!!!!! Hopefully, this company will not survive the recession/depresssion happening right now. Oh please, please god make this company go bankrupt!!

    • have you ever worm american apparel? it’s comfortable, and their clothes are just generally simple which is why people like them. they’re not going to go bankrupt, even with haters like you, snowblood. get the fuck over yourself.

  • It is really fucked up.. I understand if you’re an adult, and you make the desition that you like porn and all that shit, that’s fine with me. But using this shit to get kids to buy??? come the fuck on.. Where’s their common sense? Me as a mom, i absolutely disagree with this, i DO NOT want my kids exposed to this stupid things, just because some idiot wants to get rich.. This should be illegal, honestly.. We should be able to sue sick people like this..

  • hey beet
this girl is sasha grey and SHE IS A PORNSTAR…youtube her interview in tara banks show, its freaky (not her but tara trying to rule her life and sasha not giving a flying shit of what she says.)

  • yeah. these ads don’t bother me really… they just… don’t. I don’t really care either way. I’d still buy my v-necks there regardless of what their ads are like. I like their colors.

  • i wear american apparel. i like it a lot. but then again, i didn’t start buying it because of the ads, and the ads don’t really do anything for me in terms of buying any particular item. on that note, the ads don’t really bother me. yeah, she has hair. it’s not gross––everyone has pubes, whether they like it or not. it’s just part of your body.

    • I don’t think that the fact that she has pubes in the picture is the point. The point is that that particular part of her anatomy is visible in an ad that can be seen by anyone. I’m not a prude by any means, and I’m well aware of the old “sex sells” adage, but American Apparel using porn stars as models and trying to pass them off as your average girl-next-door is somewhat shady. (Also, though I dislike most of American Apparel’s clientele, I’m not knocking their clothing. In fact, I own a t-shirt made by them and it happens to be ridiculously comfortable and fits me well. I’ll own to that, even after my anti-hipster rant before.)
And in reply to jennatar–yes, her fuck-me face is a bit disconcerting.

    • Caroline, thanks for the lesson on pubes. Perhaps you should pose nakes for the next ad. You are such a free spirit.

Let me break it down… the ads have always been boundary pushing, but they had an egde- a style. It was dirty, but it was artistic. The new ads? Trying way too hard to mimic the old feel. It’s sad. I always admired their style before.

    • go caroline!

and its true people. we all have pubes. you may shave or wax or laser or whatever, but its there.

  • who gives a shit. I like their clothes and how they treat their workers. I don’t care much for ads, so i just don’t look at them.problem solved.

    • I like that they don’t outsource. I’d rather deal with some porn than have my clothes made by 8 year-old children getting paid 5 cents a day

    • Actually, I like the fact that they are not made by a child in the 3rd world country too, but AA doesn’t treat their workers well. There is a law suit for sexual harrasment against the CEO of AA.

  • People who think anyone with pubes needs shaving need to grow up and stop infantilising women.

I don’t have a problem with naked people, but it won’t make me buy any of their clothes.

  • This is disgusting. Like young girls need more encouragement to be sluts? Like it’s not bad enough we have Jamie Lynne Spears encouraging them all to get pregnant? Pretty soon they will have 12 year olds in ads like this.

  • why is it not included anywhere that this was just posted on one of my favorite blogs, reverse cowgirl? seriously. that’s sasha grey. she’s 20. she’s not barely 18. you could make the case that she’ll look barely 18 when she’s 25, i’m sure. and that’s after she’s been fucked 2000 times.

i LUVVVVVV this ad. why? because it was only on one site, the aforementioned reverse cowgirl blog. why is that relevant? it’s a sex site by a damn smart woman. jezebel tried to shit all over it, but it was pretty amazing when i first read about it. this evidently part of something bigger where they’re making ads specifically for sites instead of finding sites for boring, shitty web ads. i use an ad blocker and i literally turned it off specifically to see this ad because it is INTERESTING and it gets people talking about it.

anyone that thinks she needs to shave is being juvenile. this is an ad that ran (it’s not even there anymore! i checked!) and was gone quickly, but it still has lasting power and still has people talking about it. they’re obviously branding their company more than trying to sell something too. didn’t anyone ever take a business class in college?

  • 1. Hooray for pubes!

    2. Anonymous — There are American Apparel stores in Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto and Winnipeg at least, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a few in Edmonton and Calgary.

    3. This Caroline chick works for American Apparel right? She must. That’s why she’s fanning the flames.

  • Pubes are something natural, and just like men have them, women have them as well. Get over it.

America is very conservative, especially if compared to Europe.

American Apparel got what they wanted. How many times has the brand been named only on this webpage?

  • i was hoping this was a joke. then I jumped in, and I saw it wasn’t. There is nothing wrong with nudity, it’s how you bloody do it that matters, and this is done terribly, with no artistic merit whatsoever. It sucks. I for one will never buy their clothes thanks to this trash.

  • 1) Who the fuck cares if pubes are natural. Should we have them flagging around in pubic ads for SOCKS?????????? NO. Just like we shouldn’t have a mans nuts hanging around.

    2) American Apparel will always be American Apparel. Cheap looking out of date ‘staples’ that people pay an obnoxious ammount of money for.
It truely is the 17 year old in the bar kissing a girl for attention. pathetic.

    3) Anyone who finds women being publicly newde to SELL SHIT as being ‘liberating’ is either; a man, bi or insecure.
If someone is proud of their body, wants to be ‘liberated’ – it should happen on a newde beach, in pournn, or in their own house.

    • I dont find it liberating and I am bi – but does that mean my opinion doesnt count because I automaticaly objectify women?

how is an ad liberating – its \SELLING SOCKS?

Public nudity is can be liberating, we’ve all done the topless walk around the neighbourhood to try to get arrested to prove that indecency laws are sexist in university in our teens, but advertising is, in my non-valid bi opinion, more exploitative than pornography.

      • Heather I’m sorry – I didn’t see it that way until I re-read my commentary.

It was soaked with a little bit of ‘the average guy’ man hating, and I happened to lump my run ins with bi sexual women who seem to act like one of the ‘good old boys’…

but yea – Down with American Apparel!

  • This is great…cuz’ we don’t have enough teenage pregnancies, multiple “baby mama” families, chlamydia, genital herpes and aids. When will people get it through their heads that “anything goes” is detrimental to society?

  • American Apparel wins! You are all now talking about these ads. They win. They have now imprinted in your mind. You lose! Instead of squawking about the ads, ignore them if you are offended.

  • Ever heard of Google? Thatâ??s Sasha Grey, who is a porn star and also has a lead role in Steven Soderberghâ??s new movieâ?¦.

  • Ever heard of Google? Thatâ??s Sasha Grey, who is a porn star and also has a lead role in Steven Soderberghâ??s new movieâ?¦.

  • Is sh*t like this even shocking any more?
Once youve seen one messy fur ball youve seen them all.
Its like looking at a dust bunny jerking off in the corner under your bed.
You knwo what i mean? Just hit the bith with a brrom and tell her to “get”! works every time.

    BFD!

  • the thing is, seven and eight year olds who see this go, ‘yuck.’ so there will inevitably be a backlash on their sales in a few years. HAHA.

  • Whatever. “America is still afraid of boobs” oh cry me a fucking river. If you want to see boobs, hop on the internet or get a fucking playboy. The rest of us don’t want filth shoved in our faces in the mainstream.

  • The tits ones I don’t so much mind…you can pick up newspapers (in the UK anyway) for under 50p and be faced with girls wearing nothing but a pair of knickers as soon as you open it up, and its not like there is an age restriction.

The American Apparel ad for the socks is COMPLETELY inappropriate. Nobody is going to be looking at the damn socks! It’s shock advertising, and I’m amazed they got away with it. :|

  • I’m all for more open sexuality in every day America. But TASTEFUL sexuality. Not trashy. Or overly promiscuous. Or ugly unclose-shaven.

  • OK, I can’t write for toffee (hence why people such as Beet are getting paid to blog and I’m NOT), English is not my first language, and I don’t know if this post is a completely fruitless endeavor but here goes anyway…

American Apparel thinks it’s pushing the hipster envelope by recruiting a new brand of feminist to front its latest campaign. Unless you already knew (and there’s no concievable reason why you would… lol I jest) the young lady in question is Sasha Grey; not only one of the youngest pr0n megastars EVER – this girl is only 20 but already has starred in more films than you’ve downloaded mp3’s – but also the posterchild of the new wave of fetishism pron (i.e. acts involving sado-masochism, paedophilia, and eating bodily excretions). Sasha Grey (not her real name) made her first foray into the industry in her mid teens and epitomises the ever growing army of extremely young women who believe that making sh!tloads of money at any expense is worth the pain. And when I say pain, in her case I mean it literally, although I’ll spare you the gory details.

I’m not a prude, and neither am I against pr0n per se or even advertisements using sex appeal to sell their products. Sex sells and I have no aversion to that in itself. What I am averse to, however, is the mainstream promotion of immoral and downright precarious acts (as exemplified by Sasha Grey) as not only ’empowering’ to females but a justifiable and ‘hip’ career path. Indeed; what was once considered scandalous behaviour is now being touted as a smart way to climb to the top; and given Sasha Grey’s and Kyung Chung’s current earnings, it also appears effective.

No matter how far those in accordance with this campaign will go to rationalize and justify their choice of models (Sasha Grey is not the first pr0n star to front their campaign, although, to date, she is the most extreme)… they may say it’s simply about female empowerment, female sexual liberation, pushing boundaries, young girls “taking ownership of their own exploitation and twisting it around into something like a feminist statement” ( http://www.examiner.com/x-1916-Sex–Relationships-Examiner~y2008m12d30-Sasha-Grey-and-American-Apparel-Selling-socks-the-sexy-way ).. effectively what they are encouraging through their use of such a model is precisely that; money by any means however deplorable or risky.

Since the first home made sex tape hit the market back in the day, ‘leaking’ a sex video has become the career move of choice for anyone wanting to make it big time. Now the express gravy bullet-train to $millions is chugging (or rather, flying like a speeding bullet) to the tune of “I’m f***ing 15 years old muthaf***a and I’ve had gangbangs with the Bloods and the Cripps and MS13 and guys older than my dad and been raped and eaten poop and I f**king love all of it I’m sexually empowered AND I’M MAKING DEM DOLLARZ muthaf***a so f**k you if you wanna judge me you c**t”.

Admittedly I know very little about the inner workings of American Apparel, but from what I’ve read recently their latest campaign is hardly surprising. The fact that they are run by a self proclaimed ‘Jewish Hustler’ who likes to conduct interviews during coitus (actually I think it’s quite novel) and make undue sexual advancements to his female employees, is neither here nor there. However, I mention it only in relation to how some people are claiming that his modus operandi is in itself justification for the ad campaigns. I honest can’t see the link myself but perhaps I’m missing something?

Or perhaps I’m just missing the whole point altogether? I don’t care; I just wanted to air my views regardless whether or not anyone agrees or even cares to read them.

    • Great post! but please do not say pr0n anymore. It puts a disgusting picture of crawfish and sex in my head.

  • Sasha Grey, is that you??? …ohh fuck, I can’t believe I actually know this girl’s name…I’m so lame :(

  • HAHA! I think it’s so funny that Sasha Grey thinks she is empowering herself and young women. It doesn’t matter how much she tries to stress the fact that being a slut and a pervert is okay (Rolling Stone interview) IT ISN’T and it NEVER will be. I’m not a prude and I’m all for sexual expression but not when it envolves CHILDREN or Pedo Porn. Sasha Grey is a nasty bitch (That’s probably a compliment in her mind). I don’t want porn in my face everytime I try to live my daily life. If you want porn that’s fine go download it but people (especially not children) shouldn’t be subjected to that when they go out.

This ad is EXTREMELY tacky. They could’ve done something tasteful with a pretty model but they decided to pick an ugly pornstar w/ a beat up p****.

& the movie she was in sucked….she’s f*cking boring.

  • …what’s so gross about pubic hair? and how come all of you are balking at someone posing like this but saying that her pubes are disgusting at the same time? hm.

  • Lot More Skeletons in his Closet – 11.20.2009
Sexual harassment is the least of his evils, in short he is mass hypocrite, opportunist, and a exploiter of progressive social trends. His famous “Legalize LA” and “Legalize Gay” t-shirts are a good example. If he truly believes in offering good will to immigrant workers then why, earlier this year, did he fire so many immigrant workers and then say it was due to the pressures of President Obama’s politics. Further more why were his views on Obama’s politics given media limelight but hardly anyone, beyond his workers, know that a few months prior, after he had fired several immigrant workers, that they then protested by burning “Legalize LA” t-shirts outside of his warehouse. The truth is that he is well schooled in whats in as far as social trends. Lets take the free trade hype for instance. Who are the majority of free trade product consumers? Or rather, are free trade products inexpensive? No, they usually are not. So the average consumer is usually well off enough to spend $50 on a shirt that would normally cost her/him $10 or below if it was not free trade. You don’t see American Apparel manufacturing “Make Affordable Housing” t-shirts, even though that would seem to fall in line with the company’s “humanitarian” image. And you know why? Because theres no hip, young, rich sub-culture linked to the people of U.S. society that are losing their homes right now because of the poor economic state that the U.S. is in right now. But gays, for the most part, tend to be in prominent financial positions and Im 90% sure that Dov knows this or his social analyst does. Its all a ruse and if anyone questions it he can always flip the mirror and tell people that their heartless because they want to put a damper on the humanitarian efforts of free trade industry. I guess the best way to capitalize is get two majors in college: one in business and the other in ethnic sociology.

  • I cannot for the life of me figure out why you people think that Sasha Grey being happy with her sexuality is appaling, or wrong in any way whatsoever. The girl likes to have non-vanilla sex and is open about that fact. Most of the people in this world are not comfortable enough with themselves to allow them this thrill, and that is the sad, appaling part of the story. You say “Hey I’m no prude, but shes a slut and she is bad for America and bad for Women”, when in fact stating that you “are not a prude” almost undeniably asserts this to be a fact. I am in a loving and amazing relationship with someone who is intelligent and empowered and sexy. We are both quite successful, and not to give too much detail, I work for a MAJOR non-profit in the DC area and feel pretty damn good about the work I do. We have what you would call “degrading, disgusting” intercourse and foreplay, sometimes involving risqué fantasies, and I could not imagine going back to having the plain old terrible sex that most of you have on a daily basis. So wake up everyone, sometimes sex is just sex, and not a reason to get your tired, jobless, self loathing ass all riled up about something. Sasha Grey probably makes more than everyone on this comment chain combined, DOING SOMETHING SHE LOVES. That sounds like the American Dream to me.

    • You probably don’t have kids, and doesn’t care if kids exist and roam this world.
And I doubt Sasha’s daily grind is as lovely as you say – she sure has money, so what?
There are other things in life than money and sexual satisfaction. “Like what?”, you may ask. Well, just don’t rub that p***y on my face when I’m shopping or surfing the web, and we’re both fine.

  • I can see how this ad and it’s message is shocking, vulgar, artistic, disgusting, inappropriate, sexy, ridiculous, rebellious, and boring for some.

Sasha Grey is not your average porn star, nor is she my cup of tea. Sexually she turns my stomach. I’m not quite sure if she’s really enjoying the sex she has in her films or is just amused by the ridiculousness of it all. It has also crossed my mind that she may be a dirty, stinking, perverted old man trapped in a young girls body.

Either way I neither love or hate her, but I do think she’s fascinating and that AA’s marketing is brilliant for getting so many people to continue buying there $hitty clothes.

  • Sasha Grey is 22. So the ad is not pedophilia. I don’t understand the outrage at seeing a picture of a beautiful young woman naked.
She, while enjoying non-vanilla sex, has publicly she does not do kids or scat. While some might feel this is a fine distinction I can’t feel that anything else she chooses to do is her own choice and if one doesn’t like watching it, then don’t. I, for one, admire her and the few other women in porn who are hot because they are enjoying their work. More power to her and Belladonna, for that matter.
It’s also very funny to me the disgust over pubes, go look at the classic groundbreaking porn movies of the 70’s! Behind the green door, devil and miss jones.

  • Personally, I like this ad. As a 19 year old female it’s encouraging to see another girl around my age that is pale, regular size breasts and has body hair (which is completely normal) be glamourised by the media. I’m tired of all these overly tan anorexic girls with huge tits being made into the icon of sex appeal.

  • I totally agree with Tanya. I’m an 18 year old chick and Sasha is totally awesome. I have had internet conversations with her (I was even lucky enough for her to think im sexy) and she is so nice. I love that Sasha embraces her sexuality and her body. All the power and respect to her for breaking the molds and giving confidence to girls on the fair and slim, small chested side.
…and as for the pubic hair….c’mon guys, grow up. its a fact of life, girls have pubes too….and i’d munch hers any day!
