  • Great speech =)

But mainly I want to know what the hell happened to Aretha Franklin’s voice?! Don’t even get me started on what she had on her head. Bows that big should not be allowed. Ever. I don’t care how much of legend you are.

    • If you have a problem with her hat it’s a good thing you’re not from Europe. The queens and princesses here wear the most ridiculous(-ly awesome) hats for official events.

      • I’m from England. Ascot nearly kills me. Just because you have money does NOT mean you suit a hat the size of a small child!

Sorry. Bad fashion gives me palpitations, lol.

      • Squeeziee:
        Sorry for assuming :]

Some of the hats are really ugly but others are pretty awesome. In my opinion. :]

  • I’m at work, and I watched the inauguration here (still am), and I came over all emotional, tears and chills! lol

I had to pretend I was sneezing, because a co-worker came into my office while I was watching it and didn’t want to look like a total git, sobbing over Obama.

  • FINALLY!!!! I feel like we are united in a positive event much like after 9/11 except that was a tragedy and horrible.

  • i love people trying to downplay this, it’s a major deal. the country has had the crap kicked out of it for the last 8 years, and finally there is some optimism thank god. and it’s done by a black guy the day after MLK day. awesome.

oh and loved the personification of old/failure by cheney in the wheelchair. watching bush flying out of washington by helicopter was one of the greatest things i’ve seen in years. free at last indeed

  • Observation: I love the way Michelle looks at him. I have yet to come across a photo where her eyes are set on him that I cannot see her love for him. I love it. That says a lot about both of them.

  • Apparently I’m in a musical mood today:

    There’s nothing in the streets
    Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
    Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
    We don’t get fooled again

    Meet the new boss
    Same as the old boss

    Thank you Pete Townsend!

  • That Lowery dude is pretty funny: “…when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen. Say Amen.”

And the performance by Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman & co. was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. Well, then again.. the song was composed by John Williams.. who’s a musical genius in his own right.

  • I cannot wait until this nationwide orgasm ends and life can get back to normal by realizing that he is just another politician. A good one, and one I sincerely wish well, but a politician non the less. The vat of kool aid must run dry at some point!

  • Well, I am disappointed.

Obamassiah has been president for almost 24 hours and the stock market is still tanking, the economy hasn’t been fixed, I had to pay for my own gas in my car last night, there was no free money in my mail today, we’re still in Iraq, Gitmo’s still open, my hair isn’t natually coming in the color I wanted it to, and the cure for cancer hasn’t been discovered! What a bummer!

  • Actually, Obama was president at exactly 12:00 noon, whether he took the oath or not. I wonder what would happen if he didn’t take the oath? Impeachment? He could ask buddy Clinton about that.

“Pursuant to the Twentieth Amendment, the President’s term of office begins at noon on January 20 of the year following the election. This date, known as Inauguration Day, marks the beginning of the four-year terms of both the President and Vice President.”
