Apparently Viacom and Time Warner could not reach an agreement in their negotiations, so at 12:01 am on January 1, Time Warner Cable’s 13.3 million subscribers will be losing the following channels: Comedy Central; CMT: Pure Country; Logo; Palladia; MTV; MTV 2; MTV Hits; MTV Jams; MTV Tr3s; Nickelodeon; Noggin; Nick 2; Nicktoons; Spike; The N; TV Land; Vh1; Vh1 Classic; and Vh1 Soul.
Time Warner says that Viacom has “asked for an exorbitant increase in their carriage fees and their network ratings are sagging.” Meanwhile, Viacom says that the “renewal we are seeking is reasonable and modest relative to the profits TWC enjoys from our networks.”
TWC was my cable provider in LA, and I must say that I hated them. They were awful. I even ranted about it on this blog, here, years ago, and that post still gets traffic and comments from people Googling the words “Time Warner sucks.” So, whatever’s going on here, I’m certain it’s Time Warner’s fault, and I hope this pisses off their subscribers to the point that they go out of business forever, because they are evil. The end.

I HATE TIME WARNER!!! They are the only service offered at my apt. and I am honestly considering not re-signing my lease because of it. We lost the CW for a while a few months ago in central Ohio.. and Beet, I agree, everything is all their fault. My blood pressure is sooooooooaring.

the real bullshit though is that in milwaukee, TWC is the ONLY cable company. that’s it. it’s either TWC or the dish.
I love me my FiOS… awesome TV reception… TWC always holds the channels for ransome; f ’em…in NY, they held the sports channels over customers heads, not wanting to allow them into free tv because of the fee they have to pay to run them… Love to see how this pans out… lot of crazed kids without their Nickelodeon and iCarly withdrawals.

Time Warner sucks ginormous donkey scrotum. seriously. we had cable with them and their service was so bad and their bills were filled with so many ridiculous add-on fees, that we cancelled it after only a few months.
i’d prefer almost anything to dealing with TW customer service. i mean like, almost *anything*–yeast infection, sharp stick in the eye, lemon juice in a papercut, listening to an entire jessica simpson album, getting trapped in an elevator for 5 days with my ex-mother in law, like, anything!
What I read is if Time Warner agreed to the deal Viacom wanted, it would’ve cost subscribers a mere $.28 more per month. That’s all. I just don’t think TWC is ready for the backlash they will endure. There will certainly be tons of people cancelling their service because of this. It’s not just The Hills people are losing. It’s a LOT of programming. Children’s programming. Comedy Central. This is huge.
I’m so glad I don’t have their service anymore, like I did when I lived in FL. I hated them. In fact, I hate Comcast and we just got rid of our cable altogether. We’re done.
TV is moving to the internet anyhow. We can get everything we want online, whether it’s through TV websites, or downloading from file sharing networks.

If you have a HD television, you can get a lot of great programs and shows without cable. Saves you money since it is all free. :)
Bright House Networks will also be affected by the same change, from what I have heard.
In response to Sharon, Once Viacom gets the go ahead for the 30 cents more a month, all the other networks will follow suit and demand the same. Once that happens, that money will escalate and we will end up paying $30 more a month for our service, not 30 cents.

Time Warner is the WORST. Completely. I have them right now, and am switching soon because it’s honestly impossible to put up with their shit anymore. Their format has been redesigned twice now since we’ve had it, and each time is successively worse than the first. Like me and probably others like me have just taken on a two year contract for channels we like to watch and can’t. If I had know about this cancellation mess ahead of time, I might have not gotten into a contract. What’s next? This company is out of control.

Not only are we losing 19 channels at midnight, but we just got a notice that our rates are going up $3. What the f*ck?? They aren’t paying Viacom all that money. Why isn’t it being passed back to the customers??? No, I’m not serious. It’s sarcasm. Basically, neither Viacom or TWC give a rats ass about us. Do you think they are listening? The only thing that will get their attention is lost revenue. I’ve never had anything but cable, so I don’t know what I will switch to. Fios is not available in my area. AT&T, Direct TV?? Here is what i think and i know they are much smarter than i am… Since Digital TV will be the stanard in Feb 2009. Why doesnt VH1, MtV, Comedy Channel, etc just broadcast their own. they will garther more audience by at least 10 fold hince charging more for advertising thus making a larger profit with out any add cost. plus in these times it gives the people a break where they would no long need time warners basic cable… people only pay for that upgrade for those channel anyway and if time warner doesn’t have it…. they people leave and time warner goes broke.
