For reasons I can’t even begin to fathom, Dr. Pepper said they’d give a free soda to everyone in America if the new Guns ‘N’ Roses album actually dropped in 2008. The new album, Chinese Democracy, goes on sale on Sunday, and is already streaming for free on MySpace.
Can someone please explain to me why Dr. Pepper had any sort of a vested interest in the Guns ‘N’ Roses album? Was this just a stupid marketing ploy? I can’t even imagine why they’d do this.
“We never thought this day would come,” Tony Jacobs, Dr Pepper’s vice president of marketing, said in a statement. “But now that it’s here, all we can say is: The Dr Pepper’s on us.”
Beginning Sunday at 12:01 a.m., coupons for a free 20-ounce soda will be available for 24 hours on Dr Pepper’s Web site. They’ll be honored until February 28.
it shouldnt count. its not the whole band, is it? im cornfused. i agree, weird promo strategy.
They said because they never thought the album would come out. They didn’t actually expect to be having to live up to their side of the statement, but now that it’s going to be released, for one day Dr. Pepper will give away coupons on it’s site. At least they’re staying true. lol
I love free shit.
i bet the parent of this brainchild is FIRED.
Dr. Pepper is so disgusting I don’t even want a free one!
