  • This is amazing to watch. What a historic night! The live footage of the plaza in Chicago, where people are gathering to listen to Obama’s speech. They are expecting 1 million people there. I feel hopeful tonight.

  • I’ve got butterflies in my stomach. This is SO HUGE!!! I jumped on the Obama bandwagon in January of 07, it feels like it has been a long ride, but I think it was worth it!

  • If he gets Indiana, I promised my hubby I would run outside in my nightgown and holla at the top of my lungs! I am so stoked and really feel like my vote might count for once in my life! GO OBAMA! God how I wish I was at Grant Park right now! I am so glad to be alive during this time in history! For the first time in 8 years, I feel as if a black cloud is being lifted off my shoulder, off this country. I have felt adrift in a sea of stress over my unstable automobile industry job, controlling fear drilled into me by the Republican machine over terrorist taking aim at America and sadness that the rest of the world looks at us as a bunch of idiots after RE-electing Bush for a 2nd term, and Obama has finally heard our cries and thrown us a lifeline. To me, he represents a hope for the future that I thought had been lost forever! God Bless Barack Obama and God Bless America!

  • I believe Obama has got it in the bag, he has Ohio, Pennsylvania and basically North Carolina, all that’s left is Florida. Not to mention the staunch democratic states like New York.

  • Seriously? Obama? What are some of his beliefs? What are some of your favorite things about his political views? Aww, I bet you just look forward to “CHANGE”, dontcha?

Hitler gave great speeches, too. That turned out good.

I am very proud to be an American and my husband and brother are proudly serving this country. Obama thinks the American flag symbolizes oppression. I cry when I see the American flag and what it stands for…I thank God everyday that I was born in this country. Do you? MOST (I am NOT saying all) have jumped on the Obama bandwagon not knowing a SINGLE thing that he stands for.

  • It’s looking good but I want to know for sure!

I have to say, I’m from the UK and I’ve yet to meet one British person who wanted McCain to win.

Then again, I can’t think of anyone I know who ever understood why Americans voted for Bush in the first place. I was only 13 in 2000 but remember the results being announced to my high school amongst this sense of utter disbelief..

But America if Obama wins tonight I’ll totally regain faith in you!!I’ll be so happy I won’t even mention your flawed health system, and i’ll shut my cold British face!

  • Yea OBAMA!!!!! Hey Rachel why don’t you move to the African Cogo. I her it’s really nice and peacefull there right now a great palce for you to go….

  • Obama just has to win California and either Washington or Oregon to win the election, and he’s pretty much guaranteed to win all three. Florida is probably going to go to Obama as well as Virginia and NC.

I’m just depressed that Texas came so close to finally being a democratic state. Only 50% of the votes are reported as of right now though, so maybe by some divine miracle, Obama will take Texas. He’s only half a million votes behind right now, which isn’t a lot for Texas.

  • I can’t wait to see the mess Obama is going to get America into once he starts his reign.
Despite being bitter I congratulate all of you who voted for him.

  • Hey Anon funny, someone on my facebook friends list has the same thing in their status about people moving to the African Congo. hmm.

  • @ NoPicklesPlease: Obama Bandwagon? pardon me but making the assumption that people know nothing about him is rather stupid.

I’d rather not have a third reincarnated Hitler running for president again.
and these “supporters” are not stupid either. We all know the economy is going to shit, but at least Obama won’t be making a bigger hole in your pocket than McCain most likely would. Do your research, since you are clearly completely blinded about what is going on around you. The only thing you give a shit about is your “pride”, get out of your fucking bubble! this is reality. Don’t you care at all about where your hard earned money is going ? what will happen to jobs, people who are poor, your LIFE? everything is affected.

  • No Thanks, Tabby. I don’t like Democrats. Are you 12? Fuck you? That’s supposed to hurt? That’s cute.

  • Ann, It’s my opinion that I don’t like Obama. I don’t like HIM. And PLEASE… people jumped on the McCain bandwagon just so they wouldn’t have to vote for Obama. And vise-versa. Oh well, Obama is the president now. I can’t say what will happen in the next four years, but I am sure that people will have problems with what he does with this country. THAT’S THE BEAUTY OF THIS COUNTRY. We can bitch and complain, because we get our asses out there and vote.

And no, I’m not in a bubble. I swallowed my pride a looong time ago, working 80 hours a week in accounting for a small company that will now get taxed to death. Job security, eh?

  • nopicklesplease… if your wonderful McCain woulda won you wouldnt even HAVE that job any more to be taxed the shit out of.. Shut. the. fuck. up

  • I have never been a huge Obama supporter (I was more of a Hillary fan myself), but this is breathtakingly beautiful. I am so proud of my country right now, and I truly believe this is the first step towards equality, not only for African-Americans, but for women, gays, Hispanics, and anyone who has previously been marginalized because they were not a white, straight man. GO OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!! GO AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wait a second, I didn’t understand why everyone was getting so angry about nopicklesplease, but then I just read her first comment. Seriously? Do you really think that this is just about a smooth talker? Its about so much more, INCLUDING his policies. Like his plans for education reform. Or the fact that he won’t tax healthcare (AHEM MCCAIN). Or that he supports gay marriage/abortion rights. Or any number of things. Also, how many conservatives truly understand their candidate’s issues? To say this is just limited to Obama is a bit naive.
Also, I’m sorry, but THIS IS ABOUT CHANGE. Why do you think the Democrats have swept Congress? The Republican party is so out of touch right now, not only with the general electorate, but also with its own base. People do want change, and I think thats a pretty valid desire right now.

  • Australia says thank you. What your last government did was frequently depraved, often illegal and downright regressive and hateful. The rest of the world has been waiting for and wanting you to join us in a search for peace and equality for so long. Thank you for giving me hope again.

  • You right wing nut voted bush in for a 2nd term! I never voted for him to begin with. I KNEW he was a moron skating on daddy’s money… I have been working to get obama elected for 2 years. I KNOW his policies. Do YOU? I am white and just left of center. Hello. Here’s your sign… the rest of the world is happy,m too that they don’t have to deal with that irrational moron anymore. You all need to get with the program and go get you some lithium for that paranoia and if you REALLY don’t agree with him please don’t partake of the benefits we are going to reap as a result of his presidency. Why don’t you all pool together and get yourself a little island somewhere and get out. America, love it or leave it! And by the way, I SERVED my country well, too and I resept anyone who disrespects MY service. You fucking ASSHOLE.

  • I agree with Emily.

I’m in the UK and for the first time since I remember I am aware that America is not completely full of idiots that vote for the likes of Bush and McCain. It’s not that I dislike McCain – he just spends so much of his time contradicting himself that it becomes obvious they are simply puppets being told what to say, and not really knowing what he is talking about.

Obama comes across as an enigmatic, intelligent and principled person who can do wonders for your country. And the rest of the world don’t have to despair at what America is going to do next.
