This is wrong on so many levels.

Hilary’s just not cut out for this kind of video. It feels like a cheap Madonna rip-off. Or, worse, like a cheap Ashlee Simpson rip-off.

  • i’m embarrassed for her. she is such a pretty girl but not really a ‘sexy’ girl. nothing worse than someone who has to try to look sexy. never works.

  • Uh, no, that just doesn’t work with Hillary Duff. I do like the song, but that video is, um, lacking something. Talent, perhaps?

  • It reminds me of Kylie Minogue for some reason. But younger and worst. And I keep thinking that Duff is like fourteen, how old is she now?

  • Shes been going in the ‘rocker debutante’ direction for a white now. This is just her style in a music video. She looks great and the song is catchy!

  • I think I would have like that song a whole lot more if a) Hilary Duff wasn’t singing it, and b) I decided to use my better judgement and not watch the video.

  • I cant even watch 20 seconds of it. I am not even being sarcastic.. I pressed play thinking ‘aww Im sure its not that bad, Hillary D is so cute!’ its so awkward… I can see why she is doing it though… no one wants to buy records from good-girl Lizzie McGuire.

  • Umm I think you have to take into account that she was probably told what to do in the video and didn’t have too much say in it… I don’t think many pop artists get to come up with the ideas for their videos

  • I have to agree with the majority, it sucked. The thumb part made me want to gag and she looked so awkward draped over that guy.Oh well at least she tried. Maybe this was experimental and we’ll never see this again? One can only hope.

  • I thought it was pretty good… liked the song… liked some of the scenes… though they were extremely redundant. And whats with the food part??

    I thought Hilary looked sexy and good, but her voice isn’t that great…

  • Of course some of you like the song – because Depeche Mode rocks. I hate it when singers steal songs and ruin them. Although it’s hard to top Madonna’s shitty version of American Pie. She deserves to be jailed for that.

  • This seems so unnatural to me. And forget that its Hilary Duff… she just comes across as excruciatingly awkward. She doesn’t look terrible style-wise but she is way too stiff and posed. The song is pretty blahh, nothing special and a total rip off.

  • Hilary Duff hasn’t been Lizzie for a hell of a long time.. She’s been releasing new songs and video’s that are sexually suggestive for a while – she’s an adult now, you know a woman! It’s sickening that people would post this thread to slag her off for being absolutely fecking stunning. Jealousy is a very unattractive trait girls! And regardless of if you liked the vid or not, you should keep pathetic comments such as the above to yourselves.

  • Think you’re off on this one… she looks good, maybe very good; not gaunt with teeth too big for her mouth… doing that “club style” repetitive whisper sing over a dance beat with the rapper intro/close… not bad… this is similar to what BritBrit has just released… let it ride, see where it ends up.

  • Well it’s not my favorite song of hers. She looks good though. I find it funny that significant number of people dislike it as much as they say and that she is trying to be Britney. Hilary is extremely well known in recent years for not being overtly sexual, but sexy. Interesting that people think that you have to look like a super slut to be sexy. I like that she uses restraint. To note on the song for her last several releases her target audience has been completely different. They are marketing her towards club audiences, not mainstream. This song will do decently well in a club, especially if they get someone to do a good remix.

  • I dont think it’s hilary herself that bothered me, but the fact that her voice is awful. I truly believe she has a good amount of potential to do well in other areas. but her voice is just not up to par with today’s artists.

    Here’s the thing. The song will do well, for the sole reason that she has alot of press, a decent sized fan base, and an excellent marketing team. She’s just another cookie cutter artist putting out tracks for profit and publicity. Realistically, most artists today are similar. She cant hold a candle to the Sara Bareilles or Amy Winehouses. And this isn’t a judge of character as much as it is talent.

    She should focus her efforts into her acting and business lines. Take a hint from Lindsay Lohan, if the singing this isn’t working, back out gracefully and pretend it never existed.

    Contrary to what many of the females are saying, I think she looks really gorgeous and hot.

  • i love this song and shows she got good things to come. i hate that people will not let her grow up im mean she 21 for god sake shes aloud to this sort of stuff. like most people i watched lizzie mcguire and everything but i dont find this wierd she grown up and good on her. i hate that people wont let her mature and be herself.

  • Oh yeah, we all expected her to evolve, but come on; Your next big project out of the chute is to go from Lizzie Maguire to video slut? Corporate whoredom at at it finest. The only reason I took time to write this is because I took my daughter to a Duff concert at the Save Mart Center here at Fresno State a few years ago and I pray she doesn’t see what’s see what’s happened to Hillary now. It’s cool to sit in front of a guy that’s jutting his crotch into your face. Great image. Hillary’s parents will never read this because they are probably shopping right now!!

  • First off, I think she looked hot. I loved all of her looks in the video.

    BUT I do agree that a lot of her movements seemed awkward and stiff, it was hard for me to watch the entire video. And she isn’t much of a singer =/ but she did look hot.

  • This reminds me of Jessica Simpson’s “These Boots Were Made for Walkin” video when she’s slipping around on a sudsy car in a barely there bikini. Before that video, Jessica was a sugary sweet pop star, whose idea of risque was showing her navel ring. It’s theme is also similar to Britney’s “Slave 4 U” video. These girls see what produces media buzz and run with it. It’s sad that they think that have to be skanky by flashing their vajayjays for the paparazzi and sing overly sexual lyrics to get attention. What happened to being famous for having genuine talent?? While Hilary looks hot in the video, it looks unnatural and she seems uncomfortable.

  • I think the song and video are decent. Its good to see Hilary trying new things. HELLO! she’s not gonna be 15 forever, she’s 21. She looks hot in the new Maxim spread and in this video too. Everyone talked crap about Brit and Christina when they got all raunchy on us. So that type of response is expected. What do people want, videos with 50 year old women wearing amish garb and singing psalms?! I say keep at it Hilary.

    If this is the last comment you read about this video, then read it.
    First of all, she is almost a 22-year-old full grown woman, that in itself should be a good enough excuse but because people wont accept that, another reason is that this really isn’t that slutty or awkward. In my opinion hilary MUST compete with the stuff that’s out there right now, and lets face it: Sex sells. Hilary Duff IS hot, and people need to own up to that.

  • Ok, Hilary has definitely outgrown the Lizzie image – which is good. She’s not being sleazy in this video, she keeps it together rather well in my opinion. I like how it’s a little darker without being Gothy, and I love her outfit. I think she looks like an adult, not a slut.

    But the song itself…Until she opens her mouth to sing the chorus, I was into it. But once she reached the “Reach out and touch me” her voice got really weak when it should’ve held a lot more punch, and that’s the problem with her voice. It doesn’t have any kick and you need it for this kind of music. If she were actually SINGING (and I’m talking not quite Celtic Woman/Hayley Westenra but almost) she might sound a lot better. This kind of music isn’t for her voice.

    For those of you who live in your Pop bubble and haven’t heard the sound of a guitar and drums that aren’t muffled behind a phaser and mixing board, you probably wouldn’t know that this song is a complete rip of of Depeche Mode’s – Personal Jesus.
    Maybe if she had hit a couple of solid singles before coming out with this, I wouldn’t be so bitter. Depeche Mode had 20+ singles before Personal Jesus. Seeing her rip it off so poorly, as one of her few, and not well written or performed singles, is a huge slap to the face of an amazing band and all of their fans.

  • Every1 has so many different oppinions. Hillary duff has been my number 1 idol since I was a little girl and is a number 1 idol to thousands of girls. Im 18 so im in the same age bracket as her and she is just like any younge female is around this age sexy is thought of better than cute. For example wen me and my friends go out we dress to look sexy not cute. Im in australia so clubbin and drinkin starts at the age of 18 not 21 like america. And wen we go to the clubs we wanna look hot and sexy…cute is for little girls and not a girl who just found out what the clubbin life is like. Undernieth bein a role model hillary also wants to live a normal life and in normal life its 110% ok for her to be doing what she is doing. Think about it girls what female artist stayes cute all there life. Just don’t be suprised if over the next 5yrs she becomes more known for drinkin and goin to rehab its what there all doing. And dont be suprised if in 10 yrs its a drug addiction she has. So what leave her alone. in australia 90% of ppl will take drugs at some point in there life and 50% of those are b4 legal drinkin age and apparantly america is worse. But do you c what im sayin its not out of the ordinary for her to be like this its 100% natural and 110% healthy. Maybe it wasn’t a good choice of song but every1 makes mistakes and there a lot of ppl out there that like it. She can’t please every1. Even the leaders of our countrys can’t please every1. Every song in the universe has its crowd that doesn’t like it. Good on you hillary for growin up. And you still will be my number 1 idol as you are number 1 to many.

  • Actually, it’s a cheap Depeche Mode rip-off. I highly suggest that you listen to the original song, “Personal Jesus.” Unlike Miss Hillary Suck, Depeche Mode wrote a unique song with interesting lyrics that don’t scream “ME ME ME.” Why couldn’t she just stick to her own disgusting genre and leave real music alone.

  • I think the song is passible. Not the best though. There are heaps of songs today with the crappiest lyrics but a good catchy beat (and visa-versa) that make it to number one. Im thinking of Brintey and Womanizer here. The clip- just another representation of the world girls/women get sucked into. To look “professional” or like a woman = looking sexy. I get it that Hilary is trying to put out an older image, and while it works in some ways, it doesnt in others e.g licking the mans finger… just not needed in my opinion. I think most people are shocked because we remember her as Lizzy. If she came out into the industry as an adult, none of this comotion about her image would be here.
