Yeah, that’s right: Beverly Hills Chihuahua. See? I know a good movie when I see one. You people will never doubt me again.
With a take of $11.2M, it came in #2 this weekend to Mark Wahlberg’s Max Payne, and just barely beat out another small, fuzzy, squeaky creature for the second-place slot: the perpetually pre-pubescent Dakota Fanning and her Secret Life of Bees earned just $100K less.
In the fourth-place slot was the much-hyped W., which only brought in $10.6M in its opening weekend, perhaps because Americans don’t really need anyone else pointing out to them right now just how bad they fucked up.
I saw that tonight. So cheesy and ridiculous, but my little sisters had fun so I had fun!
(I did laugh several times)
Meh. It’s not exactly competing with much, is it?
Excellent family movie, I went to see it on Saturday and my 2yr old daughter left the theater happy, I enjoyed it too, once you get past that it’s a Disney comedy and you should expect all that sillyness…
Well, it might be fun if you’re about 3 y.o. However, for anybody older, as far movies in the theaters go, there is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, to go see right now. Horrible selection to choose from.
um yeah I called it- that W. was not going to be that great. suck it Oliver Stone! I sneaked my 3lb chihuahua into the theatre with my purse. And that is what I did on a saturday night. I took my dog to a movie. lol I need a life.. but yeah it was cute and funny… a break from all the crap i have been seeing lately…
I got to see this on Saturday afternoon with 7 girls (ages 10-12). We had our daughter’s b-day party at the theatre (who knew you could do that?!). Anyway, the movie was SOOOOOOOOO good! All the girls loved it, and so did I. It was quite the tear-jerker! I have to admit, I was sceptical it would be any good at all, but it exceeded my lowly expectations. It’s definitely going into the family DVD library when it comes out. =-)
I had no idea that Secret Life of Bees is out already. They did a fabulous job of promoting… apparently.
That’s one of my favorite books, I must see.
I hear “Chihuahua” is very popular with the blind as well as the special olympics crowd.
briana, you’re funny :]
sounds like a chill saturday night to me.
and yeah, the previews and trailers i’ve seen for w. just haven’t looked that good. there’s a lot of stuff that looks great coming out in the next couple months, but at the moment there’s nothing.
Actually if you fuck up twice, when people told you heaps the first time, then pointing it out a second time could be called a favour.
Yeah, that movie was actually decent.
