Has it been your experiences that other bloggers will ban you/delete your comments because you disagree with them?

Because seriously if I have one more person leave a comment like “What’s the matter, Beet? Couldn’t handle my brilliant argument that disagrees with you? When I said you were dropped on your head as a child? Was that logic just too elegant for you to handle??” when, in truth, I’m in the car and so I haven’t even seen your comment yet, much less had a chance to approve it — which I WILL do, and then you will feel exceedingly stupid — I’m going to reach through the Internet and strangle anything I can get my hands on, which will likely be some manner of fiber optic network.

I am going to start banning people JUST BECAUSE they’ve falsely accused me of censoring them.

Read the guidelines, please.

  • Good idea. Can I suggest one addition: comments written in all caps will be flushed? (I mean, one or two sentences to subtly make your point, I can get, but a whole post?)

  • #1- i completly support the DMB ban…i worked wuth a girl that DMB tatt’ed on her neck, she was a blonde by the way, i thiught it was a joke. i thought she spelled dUmb wrong and it meant “dumb blonde”….. i actually thought she had a sense of humor…. i was wrong, she jumped on the dmb bandwagon like a wanna be dead head.

  • Censorship is bad. If there was more of it this site would not exist.

    I think it is only good sportsmanship that a person who can feel free to criticize someone’s eyebrows, remain open to criticism herself. Which Beet does for the most part, but she is human and has done the delete thing more than once with people who are not spammers. TISK TISK BEET. If you can’t take the smell of onions, stay out of the onion soup!

    Perhaps every celebrity should have ‘delete rights’ too. If you put their picture in here they should be given a special key which allows them to remove critical remarks about themselves they don’t feel are appropriate. Then everyone would have equal rights, except this would be a very short blog.

    Now Beet……. about your eyebrows……..

    i read 2 sites – yours and perez’s. i stopped commenting on his because, 1. all his comments were stupid and “first”, and i didn’t feel my comment would eve be read by anyone i’d care to have read it… 2. all of a sudden you had to sign up, select an avatar, confirm your email, etc. and it STILL didn’t accept my confirmation. i just hope commenting on here doesn’t get too difficult.

  • OMG Beet how funny, I can’t even get through one song by the DMB, I was beginning to think I was alone, people are like you of all people don’t like the DMB… His music feels really contrived to me!

  • Personally Beet I think your site is being attacked by Conservatives. One thing that Conservative know how to do is organize to steal elections. They are smart enough to know that the Internet is a battleground and are actively attacking “Liberal” blogs and websites.

    They really are motivated because by God no one will steal their right to cause wars. You will have to pry their war machines from their cold dead hands.

  • shit, i finally read the rules.
    if i’m understanding them correctly, it seems you can attack midgets, unless the attacks are homosexual in nature, and even then you can still get away with belittling them as long as you make everyone realize that you don’t mind most gay people, just the particular midget you are trashing. and, of course, gay or straight, if the midget happens to be the bass player in the Dave Matthews Band, he’s totally off limits. does that sound right?

    These new rules are ridiculous.

    The first few were right (i.e spamming, and hate speech), but the rest do not make sense whatsoever. Hopefully your intent on the rest of those rules wasn’t serious, otherwise I’d be reconsidering the options.

  • The comments about the guidelines are hilarious enough without having to read the guidelines themselves.

    Please don’t ban TSS because they are the perfect antidote to a bad day. All I have to do is click on the Beet site, read the comments and the great whooshing flames of irateness trying to bring poor ole TSS down and I am suddenly have a good day again.

    I suspect TSS is an acronym for This Side of Sane…
