Lily Allen turned to her MySpace blog to discuss the drunken incident with Elton John at the GQ awards earlier this week:
Hi , now it’s all died down i’m saying my side of what I can’t believe is considered to be a story.
Elton john and I are friends. I was honoured when Elton asked me to present the GQ awards with him this year in association with Elton’s AIDS foundation. Not only was it for a good cause but who would say no to Elton.
I’m not defending my drunkeness because i don’t need to, i’m 23 it was an awards ceremony i drank the free champagne, how awful of me.
Trying to create a feud on the other hand, and trying to make me out as being some rude little girl with a drink problem is just unfair, Elton and I exchanged jokes and there were no hard feelings at all, infact neither of us gave it a second thought. It’s sad that an evening enjoyed by all had to ruined by some bitter journos again.
The last time Lily was on her MySpace blog to discuss her drunken behavior at a very public event where she was expected to act professionally and didn’t was just this past June.
Hey, Lily?
You actually do need to defend your drunkenness. You’re 23 years old. You’re not a child. You’re a professional who was asked to do a job. You did not have a couple of sips of champagne — you got wasted, on the job. For the second time in three months. Most 23-year-olds, actually, don’t get completely wasted when they have actual responsibilities to fulfill. I’m just saying.

Hayhooo your stupid! First of all Lily Allen wasn’t wasted. She did have just a few sips of champagne. If it were the case that Lily Allen was drunk, she would certainly be tripping over her feet, and would not be able to maintain her balance. If nothing else, the long train of her dress would do her in. These are only exaggerated words by tabloid newspapers, and bloggers
Seriously, I would give a lot to live a life like that and if she is that insecure that she has to down a bottle of champagne to speak she shouldn’t be in the position shes in. grr.
I’m 23. I don’t show up to work wasted, but still do get wasted in my free time. However, in that industry there is a fine line between work and play. I say let her drink her champagne and make an ass out of herself.

Lily Allen will always be the focus of attention, for the things that she does and says, as long as the papers (tabloid and otherwise) can print negative words about her. She did not look wasted at all! She is always being accused of drinking, when she doesn’t. Elton John also appeared drunk, as did Elizabeth Hurley, and James Cordon. You can easily see the numbness in Elton Johns face as he sticks his tongue out. Obviously no one seemed concerned about the free flow of alcohol, but the press is always reminding us of the (infamous) Glamor Awards, (remember lily last June) so the attention goes to Lily Allen, her drinking is only not as bad as the press makes it sound

I’M 23 IT’S BEEN 6 MONTHS SINCE THE LAST TIME I GOT WASTED, THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR HAVING A DRINKING BEHAVIOR LIKE THAT, I BET EVEN IF THE CHAMPAGNE WASN’T FREE SHE WOULD GOTTEN DRUNK.
@ Emily: she quit high school, and she was kicked out of one of the last high school she was in for… guess what?… giving a boy a blowjob. Fancy her to behave like that now? She’s being errant for the last 9 years of her life.
i’m sure none of you ever drank too much without intending too, she’s 23!!!! That is young, why are they shoving alcohol in their faces anyway?? They probably are hoping they’ll drink too much to make the stupid show more interesting

Sad how the whole world knows Lily’s an alcoholic when she herself is completely in denial.
She’s not in denial. Her sober behavior, has been documented on paparazzi video tape and in photographs all the time.
She actaully looks cute, except for the fag in her hand of course.
How many times has Lily Allen turned to her blog to rationalize her drinking! So far I only count 3, (The Glamour Awards Cannes film festival, and the G.Q. awards) the Glamour awards had an after party! so thats fine, the mix of a few glasses of wine, (just wine nothing else) and over exposure, to the sun made Lily Allen feel ill at Cannes. and she was not tripping all over herself at the G.Q. awards. These are just 3 events where Lily Allen was drinking, (she vowed to no longer drink on stage) The better part of her time is spent sober day in and day out. Do not call her a drunk, the press reuses these three events to make it sound worse than it is. Her drinking on stage was caused by her having a short set of songs night after night for 2 years, she’s finished with it
