Look, it was amusing for the first few “cycles,” but when you’re turning to trannies as a ratings ploy, I believe you’ve officially jumped the shark. Time to move on, Ty-Ty baby.
The CW had strong Monday and Tuesday nights with the Gossip Girl and 90210 premieres, but the premiere of America’s Next Top Model: Tranny Edition crashed and burned. Ratings were down 11% from last February’s cycle, and down 32% from last September in the adult demo. Among the network’s all-important 18-34 demo, the number were even worse. It marks the lowest-rated premiere since the show debuted in 2003 on UPN.
Some optimists are theorizing that the CW spent so much money advertising the premieres of GG and 9-0 that ANTM got left in the dust. But I think America is finally over this show. Eleven seasons is no small feat, but it may be time to call it quits.
What do you guys think?
I watched it, but I thought that it was a chezzy with the whole robot future thing.
This fits into the “It’s so bad, it’s good”, category.
I’m 31, and I am watching this trash.
At least TyTy is being honest now. She stated at the start of the show last night, she is only looking for money makers.
This is the first season I have decided not to watch.
I prefer the Janice Dikinson Modelling Agency, one modelling show is enough for me.
P.S. Tyra is NOT funny, contrary to her belief!
LOL! Now this is something I agree with you on, Beet! :-) And what the hell ever came of those previous “top models?” I don’t see any of them anywhere except here on your blog occasionally and that’s usually only that skank who married Peter Brady!
I’ve never watched a whole season. It doesn’t really hold my interest enough.
Was my comment deleted for a reason?
nm computer glitch
i was over that show a long time ago. Tyra is a freak of nature. *cringe*
yeah this show is unnecesary already, good for nothing.
its so bad its good
I was never under it enough to be over it. I’ve never watched a single episode and I feel I am much better for it.
I love top model just for seeing the beautiful pictures, and its the only reason I still watch! I also think the show kind of HELPS boost self esteem for those who watch it by showing, well at least, showing that at the height of at least 5’9 and no more than 110 pounds, beauty comes in many forms and colors.
The nice thing about ANTM is that it helped young girls of color see themselves as beautiful. The bad thing is that it has turned into a whine fest of half bright girls.
i think america’s kinda getting over it, but i really blame the ratings on the lack of advertising for it. i mean, i actually wanted to watch it – there’s nothing else on tv these days anyway! but..i didn’t even realize it started up last night. i caught the tail end. i think they spent all their energy on gg and 90210.
I’m on the “so bad it’s good” train. It’s my guilty pleasure. First day of classes today, and knowing I was going to watch this on TiVo with a glass of wine was what got me through the exhaustion.
that photo of tyra is scary shiz
