And Stacy Phillips is claiming Britney hasn’t paid the $338,414.87 she’s owed for just a couple months of work. That number is after courtesy deductions and $75K she expects to receive next month. Britney’s camp is balking at the number, but Stacy says because she handled all the conservatorship stuff, her legal work was very complex and took up a lot of hours.

Yep, that is a load of $$ but actually not so unusual for hourly rates. Partners at big-city firms are generally charging $500-$1,000 per hour now, and even more junior workers bill quite high. Heck, you can have 4 yrs work experience with just a B.A. and have a billing rate of $300/hr…
I paid 450.00 an hour for my custody battle 3 years ago. I live in the Los Angeles area and I’m a nurse who was making about 70,000 a year at the time. My ex was/ is a millionaire. So these are the going rates for the area. He paid 75 per cent of my bill I paid the rest. Cost me over 120,000. Had to refinance my house to pay my share of the bill. So if one partner has a high profile attorney the other party needs to get one to win the case. It was worth it for me in the long run.

attorneys in new york bill about 700 an hour… not to say they actually get paid that. the firm they work for bills the attorney for that much…. and then of course partners at law firms are billed at 1000 an hour if not more.

Judge Elizabeth Feffer makes $$$$$$ working on the bench. Laura Wasser and her firm pays her loads of money in chambers to steal children and seal the cases. Only in 2009 there is 6 sealed cases, where they steal children from mostly mothers.
There is no justice, no witnesses aloud, no attorneys can help.

I came to a similar conclusion about Feffer before I met Elena. Elena is doing pretty well for a woman who had her baby sold to an old woman and an irresponsible actor.

Except that doesn’t explain the timing, Eustache became pregnant one month after the Golden Globes, where according to the pictures on her IMDB she was present. The selfsame awards function Naveen was nominated for, and was with Barbara at the time. Eustache knew EXACTLY what she was doing.
Then setting up the child’s (at 18 to 19 mos old, mind you)own IMDB page as an “actor” in a movie, complete with pictures, and pictures of him on her own IMDB page before she was caught and they were removed.

I had to go before Feffer. It was a nightmare of one injustice after
another. It was so obvious that she had been bought off. There
wasn’t a chance in hell I could get anywhere. She would even outright
ask the counsel for the other side if there was any evidence supporting
their allegations, to which they may respond “no” and then she would
actually say, “I find in your favor anyway.”
Judge Feffer recently decided, with no evidence whatsoever, that my son was hiding money from his ex-wife, and awarded her $2300 a month in child support, plus $7000 for her attorney. They have taken his income tax refund, his unemployment check, and his driver’s license. Add to that a judgment against him for another $30,000.
He has two other half-grown children in another state. His business has failed. His house has been foreclosed on. He is completely bankrupt, and still she believes (because his ex’s hot shot attorney said he was evasive.) that he has money somewhere that even the IRS can’t find.
He, by the way, doesn’t have an attorney. He can’t afford one.
Please write to Steve Cooley to complain about Judge Feffer. Send a copy to Arnold Schwarzenegger, who appointed her.

RUINED my life with a temp support ruling that was nearly TRIPLE what my spouse’s forensic accountant even recommended. SANCTIONED my attorney for protesting, “REWARDED” my spouse (and his/her attorney) by not allowing trial for over 2 years and, thereby, DISCOURAGED settlement. while i was able to get out of her courtroom for the trial itself and in spite of the new judge’s ruling overwhelmingly in my favor, the damage had already been done in temp support and legal fees; not to mention the loss of time and health.

I don’t understand the comments about Judge Feffer being “pretty”. What does that have to do with the brains under the hair? In the two years we’ve been in her courtroom, she has become one of the ugliest women I know, simply because of her blase attitude towards the law, justice, and concern for the children.
She is an ignorant, self absorbed woman who doesn’t know the meaning of the word “Impartial”.
Who else in the Judicial System pauses by the bench before she steps up to the seat? Does she honestly think that she is that important? Why not worry about the families she is supposed to help instead of her “image”.
She refuses to read paperwork submitted to her, and will not consider an ex-parte hearing if her life depended on it, let alone if the life of a child depended on it.
The problem with Judge Feffer is that there are too many “knowledgable” litigants involved now to play the games with her favorite Court Collaterals and her “I don’t recall that” attitude. She has some explaining to do to some authority figures.
Any JO who can be overturned at least FOUR times in her 2 1/2 years on the Bench has some pretty serious issues!!

She ordered me to pay child support based on $36,000 per MONTH income, even though the IRS thinks I have no income. And unlike the other poor guy who wrote below, she did not even look at my bank satements, which showed low balances and overdrawn fees.
Basically she is using the court to incarcerate me for contempt, thinking she will not be incarcerated herself for what is clearly criminal behavior. Come to Department 87 at Stanley Mosk at 10:30 on September 21, 2010 to watch the show.

I have never seen a judge like Judge Feffer. She comes in totally Unprepared and not the least interested in serving Justice. I wondered why the room turned 10 degrees colder when she walked in and a smell of sulfur…The only difference in Judge Elizabeth R Feffer and the Titanic was The Titanic had a good band. This is not a business with her its a hobby. She would not hear an ex parte motion wouldn’t even read it. Refused it wouldnt even comment had her clerk hand it back? This with a very young girl being assaulted and abused in her home . Shame on you. They say its the lack off funds that creates this kind of court… I say its the lack of respect and being of service when you honor the profession when taking an oath. Serious concerns about this judge’s judicial capability. Observation indicates more focus on personalities and time of day than the law. This is particularly of concern in a judge who is trusted to handle family law. Child welfare is at risk and fairness before the law is jeopardized. I will agree and DOUBLE agree with the shocking, uncaring, family breaking, disconcern of Judge Feffer. Her beauty is truely only skin deep and how she can be allowed to get away with the decisions she makes is a slap in the face to the judicial system.
How is it possible that her piers or seniors do not see what she is doing to “FAMLIES”. Pulling apart family’s doing damage that will never be repaired but she will go on with her life happy with her hair but ruining whatever was left of a couple and their children by making life as bad as it could be. Judge Feffer was completely unfair in her dealings with me. I love my children and have never for a moment refused to support them. But, the recession is real. My business is failing. She refused to consider my tax returns for this year and insisted that she could look at my bank account balance and tell that I was hiding money. Like the IRS wouldn’t catch me? Would they be foreclosing on my home if I were hiding money? Oh good, she said, without a house payment you can pay more. I simply do not have the money she ordered me to pay, the fees and late charges are piling up. They’re taking my driver’s license and getting ready to have me arrested, all because Judge Feffer “knows” that I’m hiding money. I suppose I should consider myself lucky, the guy who left her court before me was in tears. she denied him any visitation at all, none.

I would leave my name but my case may be back before at some point in time. I would agree with all of the comments posted to date. She is TOTALLY incompentent, has no understandng of the Family Code, does not come prepared and fails to read all of the litigants submissions, she is totally incapable of reading a financial declaration, and has no concept of how spousal support evens out the after tax cash flows of both litigants. Her attitude and demeanor is lacking. If there is a concept of judicial malpractice she would be the paradigm.

This judge is the embodiment of an unfortunate consequence of

An extremely lazy and incompetent judge. The first time we went to court she couldn’t find the paperwork. The next time she didn’t even read any of it. She should be barred from practicing law. She seems completely bored with what she’s doing and it shows. I have four kids with disabilities and she told me to do all of the driving for my former husband’s visitation. She obviously couldn’t be bothered with reading the documentation. Ban her from the court!!!

Her background is not family law and it shows in her lack of knowledge and biased decisions. What was Schwarzenegger thinking! I have never been in a courtroom where I felt the justice system had made a horrendous mistake. I know that any constructive criticism would go unheard by this woman. I can see a reluctance in this woman fir not allowing me back in my kids lives. I am the lastest victim of this twisted bitches wrath. A small claims simple simple hearing where as i had a bulk of evidence in the case and the defendant . . . . none. Not one thing.

Please consider running against this woman. Judge Feffer is, simply, the worst justice I have seen in my 60+ years on this earth.
Here is the relevant election code so that, come 2018, Feffer can be seen standing in a long line in her judicial robes at the unemployment office. [I hope they treat her “with the respect she deserves!”]

“The 1535 judges of the California Superior Courts compete in nonpartisan races in even-numbered years. If a candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote in the June primary election, he or she is declared the winner; if no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote, a runoff between the top two candidates is held during the November general election.
If an incumbent judge is running unopposed in an election, his or her name does not appear on the ballot. The judge is automatically re-elected following the general election.”
