“Did you know the human head weighs eight pounds? Also there’s a gun on my shirt.”
Seriously this kid just needs to give it up and go to college. He will never outgrow the typecasting that was thrust upon him when he was six years old.
He’s eighteen now. Yeah, you read that right. Little Ray Boyd is college-aged. You’re that old.
Here he is at the party for the U.S. launch of Russian brand Kira Plastinina. The event planners for this shin-dig put together one of the oddest assortment of folks I’ve seen in awhile: we’ve got Trishelle Canatella (love her!), Raven Symone (cute but needs to stop dressing like Queen Latifah right now), Audrina Patridge, Tara Reid (drunk or not? you decide!), Garcelle Beauvais, Hayden Panettiere, Katy Perry (did someone tell you it was a slumber party, sweetie?) and Katharine McPhee.
Also, and this is totally unrelated, but OMG you guys I feel like total shit tonight after three days on the road. The main problem is that you get totally dehydrated from being in the dry air all day long without much water. I try not to drink a huge amount of water while I’m driving so that I don’t have to stop and pee every half hour. But I do drink some water (like 1-2 bottles, plus soda with food) on the road, and then I try to drink a lot of water at night in the hotel. But clearly it didn’t work, because tonight I have a raging headache, my skin looks like shit, my lips are chapped to the point of being bloody and my throat is sore. (I will note, though, that I have not yet checked myself into the hospital for “dehydration.”) Does anyone have any suggestions for what to do differently on the drive back? I really don’t want to be drinking a gallon of water a day on the road, because then the drive will take my five days because I’ll stop so often. Any other options?
At any rate, I ate a healthy, vitamin-filled dinner and I’m loading up on water tonight, and I’m gonna try to sleep in a bit tomorrow to help ward off any illness that might prey on my dehydration. So don’t get all mad if posting doesn’t start until a little later than usual.
Drink a sports drink with electrolytes in it and drive with the window open for a while
Lots of water and a Depends. If that other astronaut chick can do it…
So its a little froo-froo, but those evian misting bottles are great; I travel on planes a lot, and it really helps reduce the whole terrible skin/chapped lips things that results from the recirculated air.
also 1L of water mixed with 1tablspoon salt and one tbl sugar is a rehydration drink. any of the brand name ones have TOO much sugar in them, and should be diluted by one third (Wilderness First Responder)
Just pee in a bucket Beet, I know you’re down for that you are my kinda girl and It’s what I would do. I mean you might meet a hottie and there is more chance he will see your chapped bleeding lips than he will catch you emptying your porta potty on the side of the road, OR you could get some of these AWESOME little buggers —> http://www.femalefreedom.ca/ <— yes you should definitely get some of those bad boys, I want some. I got mad when I was little and was determined to pee standing up like a boy because I mean its only fair right? needless to say my mom was upset when she saw that I had peed all over everything in the vicinity of the toilet, too bad we didn’t have these back then LOL.
Since I hate sports drinks but work out a lot I’ve been using these tablets called Nuun. They’re basically like electrolyte Alka-Seltzer tablets that you add to water. They come in a bunch of flavors and taste way less sugary sweet than Gatorade and such. Plus they’re less than 3 calories per tablet. I swear by them when I work out and when I travel and when I drink =). I think I should be on their payroll.
weird that you mention this today beet, as i just read this article this morning:
“The 10 most innovative bathrooms from around the world”
http://www.cracked.com/article_16352_10-most-innovative-bathrooms-from-around-world.html
And perhaps no. 5, “the pit stop”, could help.
Also, oranges and like citrus fruit are really good for keeping you hydrated. Plus, you get your daily f&v servings.
If you drink a lot of water regularly, your bladder starts to act normally – the reason you end up having to pee every half hour is because you run around slightly dehydrated most of the time, then try to make up for it when you’re driving. Start drinking a lot of water now, and by the time you hit the road again your body will be used to it and you’ll be able to hit restrooms on a normal schedule.
wtf was audrina patridge doing there?
sorry beet, it is our hottest week yet and only climbing!
I agree with Shadow above – except I was going to say grapes are the perfect driving food.
Um, an airplane?
Jesus… was that a has-been family reunion or something??? The little Cosby kid looks like shit run over twice in that black nightmare outfit. And who really invites Tara Reid to shit anymore?
Jonathan Lipnicki can’t be 18, imdb says he was born in october of 1990. that would make him only 17.
Beet, did you take Leo with you? I hope he is okay.
Jonathan Lipnicki has a year on me. God love the Littlest Vampire.
He kind of looks like that girl in Juno that Michael Cera briefly dates, the one with the stink eye.
Just sayin’.
Is that kid and David Archuleta related?
Uh, hello, can you say Pedialyte? http://pedialyte.com/
It cures any hangover and rehydrates you almost instantaneously… the closest thing to an IV at the hospital. You can find it in the kids section of your local grocery. I like the fruit flavor….
beet, dear, soda is dehydrating. get a water with your whopper.
Tvf above is right; and so is caroline – so start drinking water over the course of the day now to reorient your body. Stay away from sodas and from ‘sport drinks’ (the body retains water in unhealthy ways, really bad for you) and whoever said the fruit thing is also right – red grapes, the big ones, are really wonderful on the road.
Say, did you smoke?? How is that going or did I miss an update along the way here?
Drink V-8 as well. It will keep you hydrated, too, and it has more nutrients in it than sports drinks. Don’t drink any soda; it will just dehydrate you. If you want caffeine, drink green tea instead. And try not to eat too much junk food or fast food. Eat some fruit (many gas stations will carry bananas at the register) and pick up an item like Nutra-Grain bars or almonds for a snack instead of potato chips. And drink a little bit more water, if you can.
put some blistex on!
sorry, i’m superficial, and i was more concerned about your chapped lips than your dehydration.
but yep, whoever said pedialyte is a genius. that stuff is like the elixir of life.
if you can’t get your bladder regulated by drinking lots of water consistently before the drive back, my best suggestion is to bring a bunch of fresh fruit with you and eat lots of it. This takes a lot longer to get to your bladder as urine, so you won’t need the loo as often. Plus, it will keep you energized and hydrated. Keep drinking the same amount of water you did on the way (maybe a bit more if you can make it work), but add in the fresh fruit often. You can probably eat apples, pears, bananas, berries while you are driving without too much trouble. But bring some hand sanitizer and/or baby wipes so you dont have to get annoyed with sticky hands while you are driving. (i hate sticky hands!)
Good luck, hope this helps.
Actually if you don’t like sports drinks, you could try Pedialyte. It’s jam packed with electrolytes and the unflavored version really has no detectable flavor (water-flavored?)
Okay for you’re chapped lips use blistex in the white tube.TRUST ME,nothing will work better and it will sting a little but help ALOOTT. Try one of theese new drinks called naked there super healthy and low in cals..They keep me focused and hydrated and energized and feeling great..i forget but i think theres like 20 pieces of fruit in a bottle or somthin’!get somthing like veggie like also tht always helps me out.Hope i helped you!
