I never watched Real Housewives of Orange County. Actually, I should amend that statement: I once watched about 10 minutes of Real Housewives of Orange County, and then made it a point to never watch it again, in much the same way one makes it a point to never mix bleach and ammonia in a closed room.
But I guess one of the show’s “stars,” Bethenny Frankel, is dating some dude named Jason Colodne, and his hoity-toity New York-based private equity firm, Patriarch Partners, is firing his ass, allegedly for appearing on the show. Jason’s suing them to the tune of $55M for firing him without cause.
Says a lawyer for the company: “I’m suggesting that one of the reasons for his absences in the office was because he was filming a tawdry show. They found out he was on the show when promos ran. He’s on a show and never mentioned it. Any other company would have fired him on the spot. He also was not performing or bringing in new deal flow.”
But an inside source says that “he cannot be on television because the firm is very private.”
I’ve included here a photo of Bethenny, because I couldn’t find any of Jason. Bethenny reminds me of this girl I once knew who did a lot of meth, and used to slash tires in parking lots just because. That girl scared me, and so does Bethenny. Anyone who looks at this woman and thinks “Yes, this is what I want to wake up to in the morning” is actually probably perfectly suited to work in private equity.
You are usually so on the mark, Beet, but the woman pictured is from The Real Housewives of NYC. A very important distinction about a very important show that I’m very embarrassed to have watched. Many times.
That’s stupid as hell that they’re firing him. He’s been on the show maybe a total of 10 minutes so far…ridiculous. I’d sue their asses for sure. If their firm is so private, don’t they think that they are more out in the open now? Duh ;)
I’m also embarrassed to admit that I recognized that woman as being from The Real Housewives of NYC. I started watching that in the hopes of a few insular-world-of-Manhattan-society moments, but what I’ve seen is mostly just sad social climbing. Not that I’m trying to rationalize having watched it or anything.
Never watched Orange County, but I am embarrassed to admit I have gotten hooked on the New York one. Betthany is actually a decent human being if you can believe that. Pretty normal, and has a rocking body for a woman of 37. She is actually the only woman I can stand and is never afraid to tell it like it is when it comes to the other pretentious assholes that make up the actual housewives who are featured on this “show”.
Her bf, on the other hand has maybe said all of ten words combined while on the show. She talks about him a lot, and I’ve only seen him twice on the show (I may have missed an episode or two).
Ok. I’m going back to hide under my covers after defending someone appearing on a show like this.
I don’t remember anyone (on the show) ever saying anything about where he worked or what he did for a living. There were no incidents of stupid or drunken behavior-they need to lighten up and either give him job back or pay the man.

I’m embarrassed to know this, but she was a contestant on Martha Stewart’s version of the Apprentice. Remember that? I always thought Martha looked at her as if she was too much of a tacky ho to be rep’in the Martha brand. But then again, Martha had just gotten outta jail and this chick probably resembled a lot of her jail roomies.

Well, I’ll say it loud and say it proud!! I am a huge fan of the real housewives show, both NY and the OC. I think it’s BS that they fired this guy. He has barely been on camera at all, and as others pointed out, has very little to say when he is. Bethenny is okay. Jill is my favorite.
I never watched the OC, but I just watched all of the NYC episodes the other day. I don’t mind it, but of all the women Bethenny is the most annoying to me. I can’t stand her at all. But her boyfriend is BARELY on the show. He avoids the cameras and he avoids trying to say anything on camera. She always tries to talk about stuff with him and he’s just like “we’ll talk later” clearly trying to avoid everyone with cable knowing his personal info.
you know, i am no beauty queen, but if i had that kind of money i would buy me a prettier face. damn, don’t fire her man fire her plastic surgeon!
I remember her from Martha’s apprentice! So sad to see her go from that show to another reality show, and to have her show up her as a “star” on this dumbass show. I remember her being a little bit heaver (and much prettier) during her apprentice days. I actually had a crush on her, so a little part of me has died from seeing this.

they fired him? wtf? i’ve watched that show and i’ve only seen him on screen for about 10 seconds eating dinner at bethany’s apartment. seems unfair. slightly off-topic: if anyone here watches the ny show, can i ask: is alex and simon’s relationship cringe inducing to anybody except me? gosh, they are like siamese twins or something, and the flowery romantic talk makes me throw up a little in my mouth.
The only thing I heard this guy say was 7 words twice in a row…

ive seen a few epis of this NYC show. its not that bad. its better than the OC Housewives. but these women are such snobby bitches. they seem much more well off than the OC women too.
anyway, you might also have recognized her because she is some nutritional/exercise guru/chef for the stars.
Ramona: so catty, trashy and so disrespectful the way she yelled at her husband and told him to shut up at the tennis match–in front of family, friends and the cameras. She should stop trying to be a sexy mom. Her daughter is disgusted and doesn’t want a sexy mom, just a mom. She should be sexy for her husband, in private. Jill: Brash, but I llike her sometimes–what you see is what you get. She should help her husband understand that he needs to get off the cell and take a few minutes to pay undivided attention to her daughter. Just ask her about school, or something. I did think she acted childish at the fashion show by walking out in a huff. Her mom is right–take the high road. Alex: A better, more flattering hairstyle, please (and cover the dark roots). A leopard print for opening night of the opera at the Met??? Not sophisticated or formal enough (save that dress for a trip to CA). This couple is sooooo creepy–something else is going on there.
LuAnn: Her countess title was acquired, not from some achievement on her part–big deal. She is the most polished, better-mannered and dressed (age appropriate) among the women. Bethenny: She is a mess, so high strung. She babbles on and on and on, playing w/ her hair. I’m sure Simon must be thinking sometimes…j u s t s h u t u p. I admire her ambition and success, but she’ll have to prioritize if she has a baby. No one has more than 24 hours a day.
Here’s a BIG consequence for wanting to be a reality tv famewhore. The proclaimed “Prince of Orange County” George Peterson seems to be using his wads of cash to possibly purchase legal favors.
This website is screaming around reality TV websites with an interesting story about the OC Family Court system and in particular Mr. Peterson’s long-standing abuse of the court system in regards to his kids. There is some scathing information posted….only juicy stuff reality TV snarkers would LOVE!

I was sick the other day, and in a delirium I watched the marathon (?) of the NYC version, not as hideous as the OC version, which I thought the loser should be executed, but that’s going to be another show on another channel, I’m sure.
She’s not that bad, and he’s in the show about a nano second. He’s a shaved headed guy that looks like every other shaved headed, no eyebrow owning guy in the world and barely speaks. She’s drunk much of the time and got a good pity party thing going on.
Seems kind of a non reason to fire someone, like they were looking for a reason. Yeah, it’s social climbing at it’s best.

the fact that he decidedly is in a relationship with someone as stupid as Bethany demonstrates a lack of bad judgement on his part and leaves the company questioning all of his decisions. I heard he was a VP at the company…he should have known better. If he uses this same type of judgement in his business dealings, they’ll soon be bankrupt, had they kept him.
