Ladies and gentlemen it is time for my favorite show on TV…”So You Think You Can Dance.” Nigel Lythgoe is one of the executive producers and the main judge and fills the Simon role in this dancing show. Mary Murphy aka Crazy Mary is our Paula. She isn’t drunk but absolutely batty just the way she is. The third judge is usually a well-known choreographer in the dance world and varies throughout the show. Tonight it is Dan Karaty who is a hip-hop choreographer to the stars.
Tonight is New York City! Whoo hoo! Next Wed we have Chicago and LA. It will be a while a while before we get to the real compeition but American Idol style we high highlights of the best and the worst of the auditions.
Our first bad dancer is Dancin’ Derrick Bradley. The poor guy runs around the stage and jumps around so hard that he needs oxygen. The judges realize that while slightly amusing this is not so much dancing and he is not asked to go to Vegas. Vegas for SUTUCD are our “American Idol” golden ticket to Hollywood.
Tiffany Green then graces us with her presence and she attempts to do a lyrical routine that once again is a lot of running around the stage and rolling over herself. Like Idol this show’s audition features those who get their dreams at stardom dashed. Tiffany decides after getting hammered by the judges that she will open a restaurant instead of a dance studio…good call Tiffany…good call.
Anya and Pasha give us a little break from the crappy dancers and bring some hot Latin ballroom. I’m obsessed with ballroom dancing and they are liquid sex. What is not liquid sex is poor “Sex” himself. Sex. Sex came out for the auditions last year and was the joke of the season. He is back for some more screen time and once again has brought his poor mother. His motto this season is “I’m the best!” He is not the best though he does have some new moves.
It is sad when people really think they can dance…epically when they tattoo themselves with the word dance, attempt to leap around the stage, do some very lame break dancing and are told that they don’t have the physical stamina to dance. The show is filled with poor souls who call themselves “teachers” and who can’t dance themselves. There is a lot of swearing and tears tonight.
There are some sob stories as well. Tattooed girl who broke her hip who thankfully is a pretty good dancer. She goes through to Vegas, which I’m happy for since she really seems to have dedicated her life to getting back into dancing shape. Hannah Lee, a beautiful Asian girl who grew up in Israel has the more frightening story. She was working as a wedding dancer in her home country when the floor gave way and she fell 4.5 stories into the floor. They show the footage and honestly it is the freakiest thing ever. She has metal plates in her face and thankfully after all of that is a cute little dancer. They have her do choreography and thankfully she gets her Vegas ticket.
You know those guys in New York who dance in Union Square with their beat boxes? I guess the groups of them are called “Crews.” Two awesome dancers from Q Crew bring some sick moves and are asked to stay for choreography. The star of the two however is Jamal. Jamal does some crazy crumping and then, in an attempt to get through to Vegas tells the judges he can swing dance. He goes off, comes back with a hilarious routine and actually gets through the choreography as well. Shockingly I think he can dance.
Some dungeons and dragons kids try to bring some swing dancing….they are just weird and remind me of some annoying girl I went to high school with that used to talk about swing dancing with her ugly boyfriend. I hated her and I hate these two poor souls…I bet they wear checkered shoes and yell at people for their interpretations of “Beloved” in English class.
Since they are bombarding us with 90 minutes of dancing I will have to limit my snarky comments but I will be bringing you highlights of my favorite routines every week including some sexy pictures of hot boys and girls shaking it.

i’m so mad because it was on tonight and i missed my fave dancer guy from last year boo but at least i hope he’ll be in the competition
It is 2008 and i thought sex would be banging at the doors to be coming in but they let him in. he is hilarious i can not wait to see him next year again. Maybe they will show him at the finale and he can show a performance.
