So I understand that this show premiered Monday but I am a little slow on the uptake this week with my reality TV…thank my lucky stars for TiVo…sweet TiVo.
“Dancing with the Stars” is back for its 4th Season! Dancers won’t be leaving us until next week so really this first week we are just getting to know how bad these d-listers really are at the Cha Cha. We get to meet the professional dancers first and they are hot as always…lots of babes and Russian hotties. The production number with the real dancers is always my favorite part of the show because they are always so good.
Ian Ziering/Cheryl Burke Ian is lucky to have Cheryl as his partner as she is a two-time champion of DWTS. She is a sick dancer and really does make her partners look good. Ian is really hot. I am a huge 90210 fan and it is awesome to see that is has aged quite well. He and Cheryl make a great couple and he is pretty good with his energy and footwork. The judges want a big more sex from Ian but are pretty impressed.
Score: 21
Paulina Porizkova/Alec Mazo– She seems a bit awkward in her into section but still has her model looks which always helps on this show. She is really awkward and needs to crack a few smiles but her partner is doing a good job of throwing her around the stage. The judges don’t think they dance well together and but that she exudes class and style. She really does have long lean lines, which help, in ballroom.
Score: 19
Billy Ray Cyrus/Karina Smirnoff- Billy can’t really dance and it is a bit sad for little Karina as you know she is bitter about losing last year with her boyfriend, Mario Lopez. You can see his lips moving as he is counting his steps, which doesn’t bode well for his time on DWTS. I don’t really think he is in the running this year unless he gets much much better. The judges are a bit speechless but that is because he didn’t so much dance as walk around the stage.
Score: 13
Leeza Gibbons/Tony Dovolani– Tony is really hot and Leeza loves it. She looks great and it is shocking that she is the oldest woman in the competition. She is a little awkward but I’m pretty impressed. She seems to be grasping the whole ballroom dancing thing quite well. The judges want her to get a bit loose as she is a bit tightly wound when she dances but in general she has potential to learn a lot in this competition.
Score: 15
Joey Fatone/Kym Johnson– Joey “Fat One” and Kym are a great match. He is a great dancer, obviously, since he is a former boy bander. He totally sold the dance and is going to be one of the dancers to beat this season. I love his goofy personality and I think this season he is going to be really fun to watch.
Score: 24
Laila Ali/Maksim Chmerkovskiy– Now the competition gets interesting…a professional female boxer. It is a bit problematic that she is more of a man that he is. She looks beautiful all dressed up and is pretty graceful when she dances. They have a lot of chemistry together which isn’t shocking since Maksim is sexy sexy. The judges loved her dancing and thought she took the stage quite well.
Score: 23
John Ratzenberger/Edyta Sliwinska– John is quite attractive for an older man. He only had two weeks to train so he is at a bit of a disadvantage. He started off the dance a bit weak but has a lot of personality in his dancing and seems to really be enjoying his time in the spotlight. The judges are easy on him and liked his charisma.
Score: 17
Shandi Finnessey/Brian Fortuna– She is a gorgeous girl and will look awesome in those “Dancing With the Stars” costumes. I’m impressed with her even though her partner looks like a little boy. The judges want her to get her technicality up a bit (pointing feet, extending arms, ect…) and work on her footwork.
Score: 19
Clyde Drexler/Elena Grineko– Clyde is a giant and his partner is a little mini-dancer. It is really funny to see them dance together. During their dance he looks a big uncomfortable and slightly terrified but for a big guy he really does have some good footwork. He needs a lot of work on his stage charisma and the judges think he is charming and shockingly smooth on his feet. He is such a sweetie pie. I am a fan.
Score: 16
Heather Mills/Jonathan Roberts– Jonathan seems a bit shocked by the fact that his partner has an “unpredictable leg.” She looks pretty and is pretty stable on her leg while dancing. She seems to be having a lot of fun and after hearing about how “nasty” she was in the press she seems very sweet. The judges give her props for dancing with her prosthetic leg and really only critique her on her upper half.
Score: 18
Apolo Anton Ohno/Julianne Hough– I might be a huge dork but I am a big fan of Apolo Anton Ohno. I think he is really cute and his partner Julianne does as well. She is only 18 years old and cute as a button. I have a feeling sparks might fly with these two. I think Apolo does a pretty good job and I can’t get over how adorable he is. The judges think he has a lot of potential and love his performance skills. He has to learn a lot of technique but should be staying with the show for some time.
Score: 21
Who To Watch:
Apolo Ohno, Joey “Fat One,” and Laila Ali.
My Sentimental Favorites:
John Ratzenberger and Heather Mills.
