Macy Gray Caves to Fascists

I had to Wikipedia Fascism to feel good about my usage here, but I’m relatively confident now given this (abridged) definition:

Fascism is a political ideology and mass movement that seeks to place the nation, defined in exclusive cultural terms, above all other sources of loyalty, and to create a mobilized national community.

Okay, so back to what the hell I am actually talking about; Macy Gray was almost arrested in Barbados Wednesday night for using the word “motherfucker” in reference to the former men in her life.

Now I know what you’re thinking, “Hey, isn’t Barbados one of those places where they sell you $15 rum runners and you accidentally get talked into beading your hair, much to the delight of your co-workers who can justifiably then ridicule you?” Yes, that’s the place, and I compliment you for being so “with it” this morning.

As it turns out though, it’s not a place that you can curse, as they have national laws prohibiting such acts. These island fellows, clearly not so mellow about salty language “threatened to arrest her, haul her off in handcuffs to a local jail and fine her for each profanity infraction … unless she publicly apologized (which she did), a source said.”

I can only say “what the fuck” to this, as you would figure an island would be a little better about civil liberties. People paid to see Macy, and they have the right to be upset with her cursing if they are the types that never ever get laid but arresting my sister is going much too far. I mean really people, give cursing a chance. If words offend you imagine what it will be like when they come for your gay uncle.
