I think a lot of people know that a fast way into the headlines these days is to attack a brand or business for how it in anyway doesn’t fit your specific ideal of a perfect world. There’s just know way to do it all.
Demi took to IG this week to complain about The Bigg Chill frozen yogurt shop in LA, complaining that they offer sugarfree options. Wait, what?
“Finding it extremely hard to order froyo from @thebiggchillofficial when you have to walk past tons of sugar free cookies/other diet foods before you get to the counter,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “Do better please.”
But The Bigg Chill seemed as confused as the rest of us and wasn’t going to take things lying down.
“For the past 36 years, our small woman-owned business has catered to anyone who’s come through the door. Whether they are diabetic, vegan, gluten-free, or just wanting a decadent dessert,” says The Bigg Chill.
“We are not diet vultures,” The Bigg Chill wrote to her. “We cater to all of our customers needs for the past 36 years. We are sorry you found this offensive.”
“You can carry things for other people while also caring for another percentage of your customers who struggle DAILY just to even step foot in your store,” Lovato continued.
“You can find a way to provide an inviting environment for all people with different needs. Including eating disorders — one of the deadliest mental illnesses only second to opios [sic] overdoses,” Lovato added, alluding to her 2018 drug overdose. “Don’t make excuses, just do better.”
To this is the very essence of someone desperate to focus things on herself. Perhaps she isn’t feeling strong enough to be out in every day life on her own. So she should get a helper and not attack small biz.
