Shonda Rhimes has a bonified hit. Even without the sexy Rene.
According to Netflix’s head of Global TV, Bela Bajaria, “‘Bridgerton’ swept us off our feet. The creative team, led by Shonda, knew the material and delivered a beautiful, emotional, romantic drama for our members. They have some exciting plans for the future, and we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show. We’re planning to be in the ‘Bridgerton’ business for a long time to come.”
Essentially a Gossip Girl rip off set in a fictitious period, the show follows the books that came before it. Making it easy to speculate where storylines will go.
Season 3 is expected to focus on Luke Thompson’s character Benedict Bridgerton, as the book “An Offer From a Gentleman” does, while Season 4 could have all eyes on Colin Bridgerton (played by Luke Newton) following the story in “Romancing Mister Bridgerton.” There are eight books in the series in total, which tell the stories of Eloise, Francesca, Hyacinth and Gregory.
