After the coronavirus pandemic forced Dennis Quaid and Laura Savoie to postpone their wedding, the couple eloped and tied the knot earlier this month.
“The Parent Trap” actor, 66, and Savoie, 27, wed on June 2 in Santa Barbara, Calif., they just confirmed to People this week. The couple got engaged last October.
“It was beautiful,” Quaid, who married for the fourth time, gushed to People. “Just looking into her eyes, she was the most stunning bride.”
Originally, the lovebirds had been planning to wed in April in Hawaii and then have a second reception for family and friends in Nashville, but COVID-19 put a kibosh on that. Instead, the two exchanged vows with only their pastor present.
Last year, Quaid defended the 39-year age gap between himself and Savoie, who is one year younger than his son Jack.
“I didn’t go out looking for an age gap or someone really younger than me,” he told The Guardian. “I met her at a business event and then the relationship developed.“You have no control over who you fall in love with,” he continued. “I don’t fall in love easily. But I can’t let what a few people think control all that. I’ve been married three times and this is the final one, I know it is. I feel like I have a real partner in life.”
