Following the announcement that Jared Fogle would be pleading guilty to the child pornography charges against him, more and more details about the case have been leaking to the press, and surprise: Fogle is disgusting – and that’s putting it nicely. While any form of partaking in the owning and/or distributing of child pornography is despicable, Fogle’s predilection for it is just… horrendous. The plea deal Fogle got will apparently see him serve a little more than 5 years in prison and he’ll be forced to pay $1 million to his victims. Not nearly enough, if you ask me. The fact that this asshole was even offered a plea deal to begin with is just ridiculous, but here we are. Apparently Fogle claims he has a “medical problem” and “understands that he needs significant medical treatment and counseling”. Fuck off.
Here’s a bit more information about Fogle’s activities, as reported by TIME.
Fogle had sex with underage prostitutes
Fogle traveled to New York City to have sex with underage prostitutes at least twice, according to court documents. He arranged the trips—during which he stayed at the upscale Plaza Hotel and Ritz Carlton Hotel—to coincide with official business.
“The younger the girl, the better,” Fogle said
After Fogle paid for sex with one minor, he asked her to help him arrange to have sex with another underage girl. He instructed the minor that, next time, “the younger the girl, the better,” though he would accept a girl as old as 16, according to court documents.
Fogle’s associate had a complex system to secretly film minors
Russell Taylor, who ran a charitable foundation founded by Fogle, has been named as Fogle’s co-conspirator in the scheme and is accused of providing Fogle with child pornography. To create the pornography, according to court documents, Taylor employed a system of “multiple hidden cameras concealed in clock radios positioned so that they would capture the minors changing clothes, showering, bathing, or engaging in other activities” in buildings where he lived.
The pornography included images of children as young as 6
Taylor also had child pornography material produced outside the U.S. that depicted children as young as approximately age 6, according to the documents. This material depicted children engaging in “sexually explicit conduct,” and some of it was shared with Fogle.
I don’t even have words for this, and for the things I believe should happen to depraved members of society like this. Absolutely awful.
