I’m still astonished that Katy Perry‘s new album, Prism, comes out in exactly one week and yet it hasn’t leaked yet. Kudos to her for managing that, especially in this day and age, but I’m trying to listen to that shit, so let’s get with it! In the meantime, we’ve got the closest thing to a leak: an album preview. That generally means the whole damn thing will hit the internet within 48 hours, but let’s just enjoy the snippets of these songs for what they are, shall we?
It’s certainly WAY different from Teenage Dream, and because these are only 30 second previews, it’s kind of hard to make a fully educated opinion. I’m intrigued, I’ll say that. Some of the lyrics leave a bit to be desired, but there are some definite highlights. ‘Roar’ is, of course, a major one, and ‘Walking On Air’ and ‘Dark Horse’ are also pretty damn good (and have been heard in their entirety), but I also really like ‘Birthday’, ‘Double Rainbow’, ‘It Takes Two’… well, all of it sounds promising.
What do we think so far? Pretty strange for a KP record, but also kind of exciting, a little bit darker, a little bit dancier… I’m digging it.
I still think the album cover is really bad.
