Lana Del Rey may take about 6 months off from making music because fame is such a bummer. Being famous makes her feel uncreative and also unable to meet weird people late at night. This all makes sense to her. Here’s her actual quote, from Radio via Elle:
I don’t think [fame has] been conducive to writing, being on the road and all that. I don’t really feel inspired to write at all, but beforehand, when I was in Brooklyn for nine years…I was kind of a night owl and just walked around and met weird people. That was me picking up life experiences and meshing them into my own. That really did it for me…I really feel like I need six months to live again, time to be like, normal or abnormal. I don’t have anyone writing anything for me. It’s such an internal well and if it’s not full, it’s just not full.
I’m just thinking back to when Gaga was famous and Lana wasn’t and she wrote that song trashing her. And now that Lana’s famous (and nowhere even near Gaga fame), she needs ~~six months to live again~~. I absolutely adore Ms. Del Rey, I do. I don’t think she’s saying this to humblebrag, I think Lana Del Rey just starts talking and whatever falls out of her mouth lands with a thud and she doesn’t even blink.
Maybe this is what she was referring to when she called Tropico her “farewell project.” I really hope she comes back soon though.
I think its probably a good idea for her to take a break. I think when artists start to become too famous they become out of touch with reality and everyday people/problems..etc.
It makes them lame, it makes their music suck, it makes them hate their fans (and hire personal photographers so they “always look good.”)
Like Beyonce, Madonna, Gaga, and a shit load more..
