Sylvester Stallone’s twitter crusade against Bruce Willis is making a whole lot more sense now that we have all the details. Stallone tweeted that Willis was, “GREEDY AND LAZY” and that he was “out” and Harrison Ford was “in” (and this was followed with many exclamation points.) He was referring to The Expendables 3, and now we know why Willis was out.
According to The Hollywood Report, Bruce Willis wanted…get ready for this…$1 million PER DAY. They said no.
And you know what’s almost crazier? They were willing to pay him $3 million for four days!
From THR:
Willis was offered $3 million for four days of consecutive work on location in Bulgaria for the film. “He said he’d drop out unless he got $4 million,” this source close to the production says. “A million dollars a day. Stallone and everybody else involved said no.”
Stallone then quickly reached out to Ford, who was game to join the Expendables cast.
The insider adds, “I think [Willis] was pretty surprised he was replaced in 72 hours by Harrison Ford — a better actor, a much nicer person and a more interesting direction for the film.”
I was going to make a joke about how Bruce Willis wound up being expendable, but then saw the top rated comment on that post was basically the same joke. I’m guessing EVERYONE is making that joke right now.
Bruce Willis should be f-cking ashamed, and so should the producers and studio for offering him as much as they did.
I am incredulous that ANYONE would have made an Expendables II, let alone a third one, after watching the original. It was one of the WORST movies I’ve ever seen. Horrible acting (think high school play level), ridiculous story and the special effects were amateurish.
If I was in Bruce Willis’ shoes, I’d have asked for EXACTLY what he was asking for to be part of that excrement.
I must be late to the Bruce Willis show. I’ve always liked him in movies but lately there’s a lot of press about what an asshat he is. Granted, I haven’t ever paid attention to his interviews and so forth, but is this a new thing with him? Being an asshat, I mean.
