Remember how Daniel Radcliffe used to be this crazy, raging alcoholic who claimed that he’d not be able to attend any events unless he was wasted, and he’d spend hours and hours in his home drinking alone? He’s talking about it again, and this time, letting out more details. More scary, make-me-sad details that also make me thankful that he’s quit drinking and got himself a nice girlfriend and is doing movies that don’t require tons of alcohol to get through.
Daniel claims that in his darkest days, he’d “black out” all of the time and would hide in his house because he so feared what he did while in that condition:
“Seriously, in the last three years of drinking I blacked out nearly every time. Blacking out was my thing. ‘The drinking was unhealthy and damaging to my body and my social life. That’s beyond question,’ he said in an interview with Glamour magazine. I was living in constant fear of who I’d meet, what I might have said to them, what I might have done with them, so I’d stay in my apartment for days and drink alone.”
Dan says that while some people benefit from the occasional social drink, it turned him into someone neither he – nor anyone else – liked to be around, and it actually cost him some friends (I know; that might be the saddest part of all. Who would not want to be friends with Harry Potter?):
“I was a recluse at 20. It was pathetic – it wasn’t me. I’m a fun, polite person and it turned me into a rude bore. For a long time people were saying to me, ‘We think you have a problem’, but in the end I had to come to the realization myself.”
And you know who kind of helped him come to that realization? Oh, you know, none other than SIRIUS BLACK HIMSELF:
“I did talk to him [Gary Oldman] about it once. I didn’t say I had a problem – because I didn’t think I did at that point – but I told him I shared that mentality he had for actively seeking out chaos. He just said, ‘You can’t keep doing this. You’ve got too much to lose’.”
Boy was he right. Shortly after, Dan claims he quit drinking and his life has never been better or healthier:
“Stopping has shown me a world of happiness that I didn’t think was possible.”
And in good time, too. Sources are saying that Radcliffe’s getting ready to settle down with his girlfriend, Roseanne Coker (whom he met on the set of HP), so much so that he even wants kids … sometime:
“I’m not a believer that there’s one person out there for everybody, I don’t believe in fate, but I do think that when you find somebody who you love, and who loves you, you’ve got to cling on to them and make it work. I really don’t see myself looking around much more. I don’t think I’ll ever find someone more compatible than Rosie. [With regards to parenting,] kids are the single greatest, most fulfilling thing I’ve seen happen to people. But we’ve got a lot of fun times ahead before that happens.”
Oh Dan. There isn’t anything we don’t love about you, including your candid interviews truly showing the real you. That, and how much you love hairy bush. That’s pretty awesome too.
Ugh, these Schick razor pop up ads! I know I’ve already commented on this but my fear of sounding annoying went out the window when I rationalized how annoying the pop ups are. Either they don’t have a delete button and you have to refresh the page or they do have a delete button but when you click it, it brings you to the Schick website. I get the need for ad’s but must it literally cover your site’s page. Maybe they pay you guys the most or something for ad space but, seriously, the way it’s placed makes me associate Schick with something I want to get the fuck away, not buy. Sorry for the rant, I love the site, but this long, long time reader is annoyed.
LOL I’m sorry. We’re working on the ads being less invasive, and I really apologize, because I know how you feel.
Thanks, Sarah. I figured you guys were aware, but I just had to post for my own gossip obsessed piece of mind, that I wasn’t the only one whose buzz it was harshing. Keep up the good work, Evil Beet Ladies.
Harriet- No one likes to eat their way through a forest, may I suggest a nice wax if razors aren’t your friend? One doesn’t have to go bare to keep their ladies bits looking lovely and kept.
Oh don’t worry, Katie. I keep it nice and trimmed…no forest here!
I like hairy bush, too. Which is one of the reasons the Shick ads are so annoying…although by far the biggest reason is, as Katie says, the fact that the “x” button does not live up to its promise and instead leads to a larger pop-up. That’s just rude. I’m glad you guys are working on it…
