No, not her sapphic love, although she does address those rumors. In a new Barbara Walters Special, the Queen of the World answers tough questions about many aspects of her life, but in this clip, we see her get emotional over Gayle King, her oldest and best friend.
When Barbara asks what makes their bond so much stronger than most, Oprah wells up and says, “She is the mother I never had, she is the sister everybody would want and she is the friend that everybody deserves. I don’t know a better person.”
She goes on to say that the rumors of them being gay upset her only because it means that someone must think she’s lying about her sexuality, something that she has no reason to do. I mean, that makes total sense. You think that Oprah would pass up the chance to be the most powerful woman in the world, the most powerful black woman in the world AND the most powerful black lesbian in the world? Just doesn’t sound like her style to me.
Anyway, it kind of killed me when Oprah said that she was crying over Gayle in the interview because she wasn’t sure if she’s ever expressed her feelings that clearly to her in person. I celebrated Besties Day on December 7th, but don’t forget that it’s always a good time to remind the people in your life of how much you love them.
Of course she didn’t express her feelings to her directly. Why? Because it’s alllllllll about Oprah and the megalomaniac that she is. It’s so much more preferable to do such things only when she can have a an audience to show just what a truly sensitive person that SHE supposedly is. When are people going to pull their heads out of their asses about this woman and come to realize what a genuine narcissist she has truly become?
