We have an unspoken rule around here where we try not to use bad language unless the situation calls for it.  All things Mischa will always call for it.  So will Kanye West’s actions at the VMAs tonight.  

Okay, this just happened.  I don’t even have video for it yet.  Taylor Swift won an award for Best Video.  In the middle of her acceptance speech, Kanye ripped the microphone out of her hand and announced to the audience that Beyonce had the best video.  The camera flashed to Beyonce who looked horrified, the audience went nuts and Taylor almost burst out in tears.

I can’t even properly express my level of disgust for taking Taylor’s moment away.  There is something seriously wrong with that dude — something that extends far beyond “unprofessional”.

Video will be up when it hits the Internet.  You can bet on that.

      • It looked to me like she was stunned and confused as to what was going on and then it was over before she really even could react properly. If I were Beyonce I would have been mortified more than flattered. It was a douchebag move by a douchebag asshole. He should be banned from future shows – though I guess this is what show promoters love – Buzz. Good or bad everyone is talking about the VMAs.

        BTW – how can someone – Kanye West or not – simply walk out on stage and grab the mic? No one there to stop him? No one there to grab his gangsta ass and throw him out? And then he went and sat back down? Until he got booed out of the place and left in embarrassment or whatever. They should have tossed him out the door on his ass like the trouble maker he is.

  • I thought he was supposed to be boycotting them because he didn’t win in the past. This isn’t the first time he’s done this (remember how he didn’t win and was pissed and got up on stage and claimed he should’ve won because his video cost more) and it won’t be the last.

    I doubt Beyonce would’ve been flattered, she has more class than that.

If he had said the same thing in a interview after the awards I would have thought nothing of it and assumed he was praising and supporting his friend. But he chose to interrupt a persons acceptance speech to make his opinion known. How can he think his opinion matters that much?     • Also just because the titles are similar does not mean they copied the story. Try reading both stories before you make another accusation.

In my opinion Beyonce looks like she is actually flattered that he was doing that for her when really she should have looked completely embarrassed that someone would behave so inappropriately and mention her name while doing so.     Beyonce was extremely classy when she brought Taylor back out and let her have her moment. Class and dignity to the Nth degree. (But she did NOT look horrified when Kanye was doing what he did. She had a smile on her face. I think the horror must have sunk in afterwards and who could blame her. I would not have known what to think either in the heat of the moment.)

    Taylor Swift was the epitome of GRACE and POISE in such a weird and awful situation and that for a 19 year old???? My respect for her just sky-rocketed. What a nice young woman.

      It wasn’t funny at all. Taylor Swift is a teenager… still a girl… who was having a wonderful, defining moment in her life. I can’t believe you would expect her “to grow some balls.” I’d like to see you handle a situation like that in front of thousands of people in the hall and millions at home on television. She was poised and gracious. And I think just about anyone would have felt like crying after that kind of humiliation. You may be older and more cynical, at least it seems that way from your post, but you really have no place telling her to grow balls until you’ve been in the same situation and handled it. I felt her grace was absolutely wonderful and classy.
      What Kanye did was simply despicable. If ANYONE did that to ANYONE, it would be despicable. I don’t care about what color any of the people involved were. It is just a sh*tass, douchebaggy thing to do. PERIOD.
