Mike Tyson’s Daughter on Life Support After Tragic Accident

I don’t even know what to say. This is so horrible, beyond words.

Mike Tyson’s 4-year-old daughter Exodus is on life support after an accident involving home exercise equipment, the Associated Press reports.

In what police in Phoenix call a tragic accident Monday morning at Tyson’s home there, the girl was reportedly found by her 7-year-old brother with her neck caught in a cable attached to a treadmill. The boy alerted the girl’s mother in another room. Her mother called 911 and tried to revive her, according to the AP. Mike Tyson was said to be in Las Vegas at the time of the accident, but has returned home.

Phoenix police Sgt. Andy Hill told FOX News, “Somehow she was playing on this treadmill, and there’s a cord that hangs under the console – it’s kind of a loop. Either she slipped or put her head in the loop, but it acted like a noose, and she was obviously unable to get herself off of it.”

Emergency personnel performed CPR on Exodus, who was rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital where she remains on life support, according to the Fox News report. Sgt. Hill described her condition as “extremely critical.”

What an awful, awful accident. It’s the kind of thing that seems like nobody’s fault. It’s just unspeakably awful. Hasn’t this family been through enough? My thoughts and prayers are with the Tyson family right now.

  • Such a horrible thing for any family to go through. My thoughts and well wishes go out to this family and I hope only the best for their little girl.

  • Oh man. That’s absolutely terrible. Poor Tysons. I hope the best for the baby and the rest of the family.

  • Um, yes it is someone’s fault. The damned mother (and father in a more general sense). Where the hell was she and why did the children have ANY access to a workout room? There is a reason small children aren’t even allowed to set foot in any respectable gym and it’s not all about liabilty. It’s about common sense. Workout equipment is fundamentally dangerous to little ones. With all the money and resources this family has, they failed to install and maintain adequate safety doors, locks or gates as well as failed to supervise a four year old in what has to be a rather large residence. Poor little girl….such a preventable accident.

    • i agree. why the heck was this 4 yr old not being watched! u should never take your eyes of little ones! one minute theyre here the next theyre across the house. despite that, yes accidents happen and i hope a quick recovery for the little one.

    • Do you people have children?? I defy you to watch a 4 year old EVERY second. It’s not possible. This is a terrible accident, and to villify a parent who already doubtless feels horribly guilty and helpless is just unnecessary.

      • I don’t have kids, and my parents didn’t have a home gym… but my aunt and uncle did and they put a code lock on the door to their gym room so the kids wouldn’t hurt themselves. I’m not saying it’s possible to always watch a child, but with a family this wealthy, it certainly would have been possible to hire a nanny and lock the gym. When you have children, you have to take certain precautions to ensure that these “freak accidents” don’t happen.

      • I don’t think 4 year olds must be watched all the time- I think that statement was a little much. But, I do think any responsible parent should keep the workout room locked or have some other way to make it inaccessible to such a small child. If you have an unlocked workout room (or gun closet, pool, knife throwing room, whatever you fancy) open for a 4 year old to wander into, then yes, the child should be watched at all times. Just like you wouldn’t leave the gate to the pool unlocked, neither should you leave the workout room open. Weights can fall on heads, fingers can get crushed in machines, kids can get thrown off treadmills, and as we can see, freak accidents like this can happen. By no means am I blaming the mother- we all make mistakes as parents, its just so unfortunate that this one had to end in such a tragedy.

      • I find people without children are so judgemental. Holla back when you do, and then we can talk. You don’t get it.

  • Mike Tyson always seemed like an ass….. but I wouldn’t even wish that tragedy on him. I hope she’s on the mend as I type.

  • This is certainly horrible, but I do wonder why the child was unsupervised in the home gym.

    • I am 53 yrs old. When my little sister was about 4 or 5 we had a swing set out back. My sister had a rope and she climbed the ladder up to the bar on the A frame and had wrapped the rope around her neck. She jumped off the bar onto the ground. Fortunately there was slack in the rope and it didn’t hang her. My mom just happened to look up when she jumped and yelled for her to stop but it was too late. But as I said, she was safe only cuz she had the slack in the rope. Accidents happen and little ones do wrap things around their necks. Bless little Exoudus’ heart and my thoughts and prayers are with the Tyson family.

  • a reporter on the news just said it was unknown whether it was an accident or the girl put the cord around her neck. i only caught the tail end of the report, then came on here to read what happened. i think it’s nuts to think this little 4 yo girl would intentionally put a cord around her neck. then i wondered if the 7 yo attacked the little girl…maybe from a learned violence? but i have seen these hanging ropes from tread mills before and i can imagine her sliding, and being very short, so falling forward she could easily get her head caught in the loop, it can become wound tightly and caught in the machine. gee, so horrible. i really think and hope it was just an accident, and hope she is OK.

    • You are an idiot. The 7 year old child didnt do anything wrong i would think there would be some indications of an attack if that was the case. So unless there is some evidence to suggest it i sure hope you have the consideration to stop thinking up ideas in your little brain. Second im not sure if you have ever been around children, i have a 3 1/2 year old niece who i could totally see putting her head in a lope of a cord, she thinks everything is a neclace and doesnt know any better.

    • It’s not nuts to think a 4 year old would do that. 4 year old children do the most ridiculous things. Seriously.

  • I am relatively new to this site. I’ve only been in about 5 or 6 times in the couple weeks. But I know this will be my last time here. Some people in here are so cold, unfeeling and judgmental beyond any thing I’ve every experienced in almost 35 years of life. You break my heart, but it also makes it clear as to why the world is in the shape it is today. Anyone who can’t feel for a child hurt in such a terrible way, or the parents of this child, should just keep their opinions to themselves. These parents don’t need all your asinine comments about what they should of done, Mike wasn’t even home at the time. or suggestions that the 7 year old did it. I hope most of these nasty and negative comments come from people who don’t have children. And if they do God help the rest of us, we can only guess what hate you must be teaching them. I’m going to pray that something or someone touches your heart so that you can become part of the solution instead of being the problem. I thank everyone who are sending strong positive messages and wishes the Mike and his family at this time. I’m not related to him but I truly wish him and the baby’s mom receive a blessing and all turns out well with their daughter. Save all your nasty comments aimed at me, like I said I’m never coming to this site again. For the caring people take care, for the others…

    • I’m not coming here because everyone is so judgemental? Pot, meet kettle. everyone is entitled to their own opinion, regardless of child bearing status. Does spitting a kid out your vadge all of a sudden mean you’re excused from the common sense of locking dangerous rooms from small children? But oh no, I actually know what birth control is, so I’m not entitled to an opinion.

  • Ah…damn it. This story was just updated on CNN. She died.
It wasn’t looking good, but I was still hoping…
