Here's the thread to use to discuss the documentary that aired on MTV tonight. I won't discuss specifics here in case people haven't watched it yet, but, in general, it confirmed that Britney's basically who we always thought she was: not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, but charismatic and sweet and funny and vulnerable, just like the rest of us. I don't know that it will ever become entirely clear precisely what set of circumstances culminated in this particular young woman being perhaps the biggest celebrity of all time, but I think damn near anyone would have gone crazy under the pressure. As Madonna herself pointed out, Britney never had the opportunity most people -- even famous people -- have to make some mistakes without the whole world finding out about it. Britney's been under a microscope since she was sixteen. Hell, I didn't even really start making mistakes until I was sixteen. Britney still has a lot to learn -- that much is clear -- but it's looking like she's gonna be alright. Oh, and Papa Spears? Love him. What an awesome dad.
