“I went to see Britney at the request of her family, I talked to [her mother] Lynne, I talked to [her father] Jamie, I talked to Bryan, her brother,” McGraw told CBS’s “The Early Show” today. “They were very frustrated that she apparently wasn’t going to be held for a longer period of time.”
Explaining that he has had “a running dialog” with the famous family for over a year, McGraw continued, “Thursday night, the phone rang, and it was Lynne – and she has a very close relationship with my wife, Robin – and, clearly, she was very upset, which you would expect, as any parent would be.”
So I guess Lynne and Jamie-Lynn were going to do Dr. P’s show this week, but have apparently come to their senses and pulled out, mainly at the request of Papa Spears, who was said to have been furious that Dr. Phil was making public statements about Britney’s condition.
That dad seems to be the only sane one in the bunch.
Yeah, him and the brother. I read that he even gave up the “Spears” name because he wants no part of the fame and bullshit.
As for Dr. Phil, he previously said he just happened to be in the hospital and just sort of ran into her. Now he’s saying he got a call from Lynn Spears the night of the incident. He seems very not-trustworthy to me!
He just blew his career and any sympathy from viewers with his obnoxious bungled publicized medic call to a unsuspecting/feeble brained patient in a mental ward, bragging he’d have her and family on his show. A trained doctor will remember the horrors of Frances Farmer..her six-year involuntary commitment to a mental hospital http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frances_Farmer and gave the reality gotcha ambush 30 minute shrink-treatment idea a pass.

He claims to speak with her for an hour and then tells the world that she needs deep psychiatric help. Ever heard of Patient / Doctor privledge Dr. Phil? If he has a license, it should be revoked.
