Ms. Carlton’s back on the scene with her new album, Heroes & Thieves, to be released Oct 9. “Nolita Fairytale” is the first single off the album (I think “Lolita Fairytale” would have made a more interesting track). When asked about the song, Carlton says: “Nolita is a place in New York where I lived. It is north of Little Italy. It is about my life there and the series of revelations I have had over the past few years.”
Anyway, I always feel like I should dislike Vanessa, and I don’t even know why. Something about her as a person just bothers me. But, truth be told, I usually really like her music, and this single is no exception. She’s different somehow, with a sound that always manages to sound fresh and young.

hey
I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
